Time for the Cheap Cub owners to put up

Word out of Omaha that the Ricketts family have sold TD Ameritrade for $26 billion dollars (stock trade) to Charles Schwab. Maybe now they can quit claiming poverty and invest some money in the team and improve facilities, and stop asking Chicago for money. Upper management in Omaha will be looking for jobs, as movement to Westlake Texas was also announced.

It sounds like the following schools are now out: Xavier, Purdue & Indiana.

It's been reported for a while that he's visiting Miami and that a decision will come at the end of September.

It sounds like either Michigan State or Michigan will ultimately be a factor too.

My gut says that he ends up somewhere other than Iowa State BUT it is awfully encouraging that he's trimmed the list down this far and the Cyclones are still seriously in the mix.

The Register did a story about a kid from Oelwein who Coach Prohm has been in contact with through some tough health problems.

I can tell I'd like this kid since he requested that the curtains in his room in Iowa City be closed so he didn't have to look at Kinnick ;)

HS sports

With Dowling winning it’s 7th straight football title, and a few things I noticed as my boys do and will be competing for their HS (not football), this thought came up. Besides football, what HS sports matter IRT furthering your career of playing in college? You don’t need to play HS bb to be noticed or nationally seen, let alone evaluated. Same with golf, soccer, etc.

When kids can play / compete with / against better competition (typically better coaching and year round) in their club or travel teams, how relevant is HS sports really?

Trouble logging in

For about a month now (about the last Firefox update) I can't log into this site from Firefox. I am apparently logged out AGAIN on that browser despite clicking the box that says keep me logged in. I've always been able to log back in. But now when I go to Firefox, which is my go-to browser, there is no log-in option. There's just nothing there. And the result is, I can't respond to any posts, which is probably a blessing to some of you.

I have to go to Chrome, which I have never liked, where I find the log-in option. Is there a solution to this?
