wood flooring. underlayment or no?

remodeling my 1930's home
tore up flooring to relevel the floors. Doubled up the joists as well.
the room is upstairs and i put soundproofing insulation (johns manville rockwool) in the 2x6 floor joists to help reduce sound transfering to main floor.

is there any reason to add underlayment before reinstalling the original heart pine? or just lay the flooring directly onto the brand new 3/4" subfloor? I don't see any reason for a vapor barrier as it is on second floor and the soundproofing insulation should do way more than an underlayment.

am i missing anything here?

Iowa State strengths and weaknesses

Hi guys. Looking forward to the bowl game and while I know that all of the ND sites will have breakdowns of the matchups, I wanted to go right to the source to see what ND is going to be facing.

What do Cyclone fans see as the strengths and weaknesses of your team? What position groups concern you?

For Notre Dame, the defense has played really well for most of the season. They have had slow starts here and there, but Clark Lea’s (DC) forte is making in-game adjustments and shutting down opposing offenses as the game progresses. ND had a good pass rush, which was great until the lost their backup WDE (Daelin Hayes) and then their starting WDE (Julian Okwara). The LBs are really good and the secondary is good as well, even though the CBs are generally on the small side and can be picked on.

On offense, NDs OL has a load of talent but underachieves. They really struggle to run the ball at times, and the RBs are very average, so ND resorts to some jet sweeps and designed QB runs to loosen things up. The RG and RT are both backups pressed into service because the starters are out with season ending injuries. The WRs are a solid group, with Chase Claypool being a bigger receiver and a beast. Braden Lenzy has elite speed and is generally the guy that the jet sweeps go to. Cole Kmet is their TE, and they go to him a ton. He’s in the discussion for best TE in the country.

I mentioned in another thread that Ian Book gets a lot of press, but don’t let that fool you. He pads his stats against weak opposition and has a tendency to disappear against good competition. He’s been getting better, but gets happy feet and will bolt from the pocket needlessly. If Iowa State can get any kind of pressure on him, ND’s offense may struggle in a big way.

On That Note - Goo Goo G'Joob

Happy December,

Welcome to another posting about music from the guys at On That Note. We are @CycloneRulzzz, @cyclones500 and me. We take turns posting topics hoping to generate music interest and responses from the Cyclone Fanatic family.

This week we are looking for the nonsense lyrics. Those meaningless syllables the older generation made fun of back in the day - because rock and roll was throwaway pop music. Those may include songs that have the nonsense syllables making up all or part of the song title as well.

Last week's topic was timed in conjunction with Thanksgiving and included songs with lyrics or titles contain the word "Thanks" or variations thereof. It can be found right here on the world wide web by clicking this link

https://cyclonefanatic.com/forum/threads/on-that-note-giving-thanks.253106/

Thinking a little wider here, I guess we can go ahead and include nonsense band names and album titles. These two examples might get your thought processes going on that tangent:

Band Name - Kajagoogoo
Album Name - Ummagumma (Pink Floyd)

Credit Card Mastery / Cash Back Systems

After realizing that I've had the same 3-4 low rewards or no rewards credit cards for many years, I've decided to research getting something better. A few searches of YouTube show that there are some people who really "master" the cash back system.

Wanted to spur some discussion on what your favorite rewards credit card is and why? Do you use multiple cards in a system?

(Note that I assume balances are paid off in full each month so interest is never paid. Not intending this to become a discussion on "should you own credit cards," just a discussion for those who have enough will power to only spend within their limits.)

It may take several months to implement, but I want to have a 4-5 card "system" that gets me 3-6% cash back on almost everything I buy:

Get these 4 going:
  • Amazon Prime Visa: 5% cash back on Amazon.com, restaurants (2%), and drug stores (2%)

  • Uber Visa: 4% on dining, 3% on hotel and airfare, 2% online purchases, and 1% all else.

  • Bank of America Cash Rewards Mastercard (BOACRM): 3% on your choice of two non-rotating categories: Gas, online shopping, dining, travel, drug stores, or home improvement; and 2% (always) at grocery stores and wholesale clubs; 1% everywhere else

  • Amex Blue Cash Preferred (ABCP): 6% on Groceries up to $6,000 (includes Walmart grocery!), 6% on Streaming, and 3% on Gas - $95 fee, but worth it! ($265 net per year on groceries alone if you max spend the $6,000) AND a $250 sign on bonus (my custom offer was $300!). [I just got approved for this recently!]

Choose One of These for The “Everything Else” (EE):

  • Citi Double Cash – 1% on purchase, 1% at payment. 2% total. Simple.

  • PayPal Mastercard – 2% on everything. Must be linked to your PayPal account. Simple.

  • Chase Freedom Unlimited - 3% on everything first year (up to $20K); 1.5% thereafter

  • HSBC Cash Rewards Mastercard - 3% on everything first year (up to $10K); 1.5% thereafter

  • Capital One Quicksilver - 1.5% on everything - (I already have this, I had a no-rewards Cap 1 card and got upgraded just by asking.)
Better credit cards out there? What do you like? Do you play the hotel/flight/travel game? Discuss!

Bowl Disney Planning

First off, I’m a little ticked that I booked my January Disney trip 11 months ago. But let me share some tips as we all try to do parks planning along with the game. My best 2 tips:

1)Take a look at renting Disney Timeshares. Particularly for larger groups, could be significantly cheaper than even getting a normal hotel room.

2)Check out touringplans.com - they’re the KenPom of theme parks. This is the busiest time of year for Disney, and we’ll need all the help we can get.

CW Bowl watch in Ames?

OK, I have family commitment that day in north Iowa later in the afternoon. I can't stay home and watch the entire game and make the commitment. I would rather not drive the entire way before the game, which means I have to stop part way to watch the game. What better than watch it in Ames!

Are there any recommendations to watch the game in Ames? I figured Wallaby's maybe, or Jethro's. Are any places hosting a watch party?
