Big 12 Wrestling Championships - Questions

I think I ask this every year - is the following correct?

  • Team Scoring
    • Placement scoring: 1st - 12 points, 2nd - 10 pts, 3rd - 9, 4th - 7, 5th - 6, 6th - 4
    • Advancement scoring: Champ bracket - 1 point, Conso bracket - 0.5 pts
    • Bonus Scoring: Fall/MFF/Default - 2 points, Tech Fall - 1.5 pts, Major Dec - 1 pt
    • Advancement scoring from a bye is awarded if followed by a win
  • Final seeding is at coaches' meeting on Friday before the tournament, but pre-seeds may come out early next week
  • Allocations should come out next week as well
Thanks!

Matt Thomas excelling in Toronto...

Haven't seen many posts on this but Matt is doing his "Matt" thing in Toronto. Played 15 minutes in a win vs Indiana last week and had 17 points. Login to view embedded media . Calling him "Mr 99% on twitter might say it all. Just a pedestrian 5-7 from three and 6-8 overall. Now shooting over 50% from three on the year!

I know his teammates love him as an addition this year, and they expect big things from him in defense of their title... Catch him on TNT tonight as they face their rival Bucks at 6:30.

If you're into it: My new podcast

I don't want to shove this down your guys' throats as it for the most part won't have much to do with Iowa State but I launched a new podcast last week with a trailer, and posted the first episode today on mental health with Lyndsey Fennelly.

This will be all over the board and very real, fun and sometimes heavy. Interview based.

I wouldn't be in a position to tackle projects like this if it weren't for my loyal CF audience so thank you guys for that and I hope you follow along with this new journey.

More PAC 12 unrest

https://247sports.com/college/usc/A...ence-144248076/Amp/?__twitter_impression=true

I wonder if USC or others are actually considering moving to independent or another conference, or if this is a power play for unequal revenue sharing in conference? I could see someday the big 10 taking 5 or 6 schools and creating a pod system conference. Big 12 comes in and takes 2 or 4 leftovers. Be interesting to see what plays out the next 5 years with more lawsuits and legislation in the works plus everyone minus the ACC getting new TV deals.

Disney CEO Bob Iger Stepping Down

https://www.comicbookmovie.com/disn...iately-will-be-replaced-by-bob-chapek-a173456

Looks like this is one step towards the closing of an era at Disney. This seems more like just a single step towards the retirement of Iger out of the company beings how he still will remain on as Executive Chairman, head of creative, and the new CEO Chapek will still report to Iger. I guess the real question is whether this sudden news is a precursor to Iger jumping into the race for President. I'm not exactly fluent on the process as to whether this is even possible this late in the game, but I know some people are asking the question.

While there is much to nitpick with Iger's stint at Disney, particularly on the Lucasfilm front, its pretty undeniable how successful of a CEO the dude was during his long stint there. He came into the company during a really rough stint in its history, and not only successfully accomplished some of the biggest purchase deals in history (Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, 20th Century Fox), but also greatly revitalized every already existing aspect of their business. That isn't even mentioning how much the dude has already pioneered the company to be cutting edge for the future of media with their already successful Disney+ platform. I've read his book, which honestly is a very good read. How the man goes about his business is quite impressive and it will be interesting how well Disney rebounds after he is fully gone. In fact, I'd even go as far to say he is right up there in the grouping of the most successful and impactful CEOs of our era, with the likes of the Steve Jobs and Bill Gates of the world. Even with my Lucasfilm nitpicks, its me questioning more of the company's creative success with that property much less so than its financial success. To say Iger hasn't been financially successful with Lucasfilm would just be ignorant.

Coronavirus brought to UNMC in Omaha

Anyone else find it odd that an infectious disease center is located in a largish population area with coast to coast interstate traffic. Seems odd not to find somewhere more remote to quarantine people known to be infected. Also odd to fly people confirmed to have the virus half way across the world. I know UNMC is equipped but they only have 20 rooms in the isolation area.
