Ok well— I’m at least part serious about this. And am writing this at great risk of retaliation of many kinds— especially from the hypersensitive political correctness crowd. But how about, in an effort to at least TRY, we come up with a plan to make NCAA’s happen. Here is a start:

1. The NCAA waits until Sunday evening to monitor the state of COVID-19 and its potential impact.

2. If its still a go on Sunday, all wrestlers, coaches, teammates, officials etc drive ( and not fly) to the event. This is different from basketball in that everyone goes to one location only and does not necessarily have to go to airports and get on planes.

3. No fans in the stadium. Essential participants only.

4. The teams make efforts to stay segregated and away from others in the hotels and at the stadiums except when wrestlers are on the mat. Even better if this can be mandatory.

5. Put in place an uber-cleaning plan under which mats, locker rooms etc are continually sanitized.

6. Train all supervisory officials and referees on the signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and have a testing location pre-arranged for anyone who show the symptoms.

7. The NCAA continually monitors the situation as new info about COVID-19 comes in.

8. All teams and wrestlers have the opportunity to opt out with no reprisal


I know, I know, many flaws in this. But come on now...we are WRESTLING FANS Let’s at least give it a shot!

I thought we were bursting at the seams for residence hall space? I guess I can understand not wanting to live in an all same gender dorm hall (though I think that's shortsighted) but this seems odd to me.

So, we are getting ready to head down to KC today (gonna watch the men tonight - scalping tickets). But our main reason for going was we got all session women's tournament tickets.

So, was curious how many WBB fans will be making the trip to support the women's team. I've never been in municipal arena before, so I'm kind of stoked to see it!

He coached tonight even though he was sick, and was taken to the hospital after the game. That's all I have heard so far.

Anyone heard any more than that?

I have 3 all session wheelchair seats to the Men's Big Twelve (Wed-Sat) and 3 wheelchair seats to the Women's Big Twelve semi-finals game Sat only. Price $350.00 (less than half price). Men's tickets would have to be transferred by axis ticket application. Women's semi-final tickets I have. Anyone can sit in the wheelchair seats. Instead of no fans, each team should have two super fans join the organization. The super fans get tested and if they pass they now travel with the team. The home team gets two fans, the away team gets one. This keeps home court advantage!

Imagine the Raptors at Lakers. Drake (Raptors) vs Snoop Dogg and Jack Nicholson (Lakers) are the only people watching in person. Snoop constantly heckles the Raptors players while everyone else can hear it because it's dead quiet in there. Same goes for Drake. Mic up the players and super fans too. Sit them under the hoops so they can heckle during free throws. TV gold!

I’ve been trying to find online anywhere I can buy those throwback Jack Trice era shirts or a jersey for my son. He has a school project where they have to dress up as someone in history and he picked Jack Trice. He may only be 10 but he is such a huge fan of Iowa state athletics and I’m pretty proud the pride he has with every thing Iowa state with the current and history. So if anybody has something they would sell or knows of a place I can buy this your help would be very appreciated!

With other sports cancelling games around the world, should the Tournament be cancelled or bar fans attendance? The only real effect is going to be NCAA seeding at this point. No, I don't think ISU can win it this year anyway.

Thinking about what we lost after last year? I think I might have just expected to much this season. We lost THT, Wigginton, Shayok. That’s is a ton of scoring and talent.

Like next season and the season after. Changing the coach does not always make things better. Prohm has had some good teams and we have won a lot of games with him.

I need help from some Iowa State brethren. I recently have had the urge to attempt to recreate my own superdogs at home. The trouble is, I do not believe I was ever what you'd call sober when I had one. Thus, I am not entirely sure I remember exactly what was on it. Can anyone help me out with this?

I just bought some patio furniture and would like to have an ISU umbrella. It is a tall table so I am looking for about a 9 foot umbrella that tilts and has something Iowa State related on it. Does anyone know where I can find one. I looked online and I'm not seeing anything there. The one I found there are all for short tables. Thanks!

I posted the basis for this in the Wright thread, but decided to offer it up for discussion in it’s own thread. I’ve been thinking this for a while, and this seems as good a time as any.

It’s been said that Brock Purdy is about to go down as the greatest quarterback in the history of Cyclone football.

Well, I don’t have much quibble about that. Matter of fact, I think that by many perameters, by various metrics, it’s already true. And I’ve seen the best quarterbacks of the modern era, from David Archer through Seneca, Todd, Sage, Bret, Austen, Sam and...Steele.

On the other hand, I think that the way things are going under Matt Campbell, it might be more accurate to say that Brock is the best quarterback in the history of Cyclone football thus far.

Call him a trail blazer.

And this a new era of Cyclone football.

Now, the guys who come afterwards are going to have better corps of receivers. Better stables of running backs. And better offensive lines—definitely better offensive lines! And all of those assets to benefit from for their whole careers—not just their senior seasons, as Brock is likely to enjoy.

Not to mention having even better defenses, to get the ball back more often.

So, the truth of the matter is, those guys will likely have more notoriety as recruits. There’ll be people who break Brock’s records. Shoot, there’ll likely be kids who may be even better quarterbacks than Brock is—imagine Brock Purdy’s brain in Steele Jantz’s body.

(That would be a young John Elway, in case you’re wondering)

But just as Seneca will always be Seneca, Brock will always be Brock. Genuine and authentic.
