Who are your most hated college basketball players...

...that we have played. So can't be Laetner or anyone like that. In-state rivals or conference foe players only.

I am sure there are threads of this already but I'm bored and lazy and don't want to look for it. I'm interested to see what posters are younger/older by who they choose.

Mine in no real order:

Jason Sutherland (Missouri)

Chris Kingsbury (Iowa)

Scot Pollard (Kansas)

Any home security system experts here?

I bought a fixer-upper house, which came with an alarm system. I know absolutely nothing about it, the realtor knows absolutely nothing about it (it was a foreclosure home), and the local company that serviced it has gone out of business. I am seriously considering ripping it out and selling the parts on eBay (they go for a pretty penny since they are not made any more, especially the controller), but I think it would be fun to play with it a bit before doing so. It is a "GS3055-I" controller, if that tells you anything. I did google it and found some information, but I thought maybe someone here might know more.

General Sickness

Am I crazy or have more otherwise healthy people had more random sicknesses and lingering issues over the last few years?

Just within the last few weeks, my 35 year old BIL had a stent put in from myocarditis stemming from a viral infection. My 45ish year old neighbor had a virus attack his nervous system where it went from a cold to getting up one morning and falling flat on his face. All reflexes were gone and spent the week in the hospital getting infusions.

My kids had a lingering sickness where they were fatigued for almost 3 weeks. Randomly felt sick and even more randomly started throwing up. Both mom and MIL ended up with pneumonia and symptoms that lingered for weeks.

I just don’t remember **** like this ever happening.

Washington DC Family Vaca

So my family is planning a vacation for this year to Washington D.C.

I have not been to DC or really anywhere in that area.

I am spending a ton of time looking at all the things to do and there is a ton. But Hoping some on here have some pointers.

Will be traveling with my wife and 2 youngest kids, ages 8, 11. They love history so we want to do this while they are interested. We are thinking of extending trip a few days to go to Virginia Beach, because the other option for this year was a beach vaca, so we thought we could get the best of both worlds. We also may go to Philadelphia to see the historical places there before going to DC

Some things I am looking for info on:
  • Best way to get around DC, obviously trying to drive around is not the way, also keep in mind I have a bad leg so am trying to reduce walking some (not eliminate it) I know I will be walking a lot just dont want to walk an extra amount too and from hotel etc.
  • Best things to do and see. DC area, Phili, Va Beach, Gettysburg. etc
  • best places to eat, hopefully some budget friendly
  • best hotels in these areas. we like ones with kitchens etc for longer stays, residence inn, extended stay, suites etc. At least for DC being we will be staying there the longest. Gives us a little extra room and a chance to not eat out quite as much.
  • possible places to stop on way to and from that area, sites to see, Civ war spots, etc. in routes to and from the DC, Va Beach area.
The length of time is completely in flux right now, Thinking somewhere 10-14 days total with drive time. Depending on the extra addons outside DC.

Thanks in advance for any info and help!!!

WBB: Cyclones take care of business in road win over Houston

Iowa State fell behind during the first quarter in Wednesday's 76-64 win over Houston, but Jalynn Bristow got the ball rolling to help the Cyclones find their ninth Big 12 win of the season.

Health Problems

Not trying to create a depressing thread... but for people open to talking about them or need a place to vent about health issues. I just turned 35, and was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis last summer. I have seen a couple others post on this board about having it so figured I'd post about it and curious if others here fight the same problems. For the most part I do okay with it... I've been 6 months without alcohol, which kind of sucks (especially during football season) - but I'm getting used to it and attempting to better my diet. I also get to hit my insurance deductible in like 3 months now because my monthly medication is close to 600 dollars per month which is a lot of fun. I recently found a co worker had the same disease, and I would have never guessed..

So my thought was to start this thread if anyone was looking for a place to post. I have considered my self in good health my whole life, then when I hit 33, it seemed like I was at the doctor office every other month for different issues and ultimately leading to this diagnosis. I really had my self convinced that I had cancer at that time and at the time was relieved, but then realizing you get to tackle an illness for the rest of your life is it's own adventure.

KXNO Sports Fanatics

Does anybody know if CW is still a host of this show or just an occasional guest? I know it’s on 3-6 and I can’t tune in for the entire time but it seems like he’s never on. I like to listen to the pods on iHeart but they don’t seem to offer the entire show. Just 1 or 2 hours at random the next day. It’s apparently somewhat of a running joke why he’s not there but I’m not sure if he’s considered a regular host or not. It seems to lean pretty Hawkeye heavy whenever I can catch it. So maybe it’s just a Hawk show now?

RECRUITING: Phoenix Gill set for visit Saturday, where Iowa State stands with him

RECRUITING: 2025 guard @PhoenixGill_ is set to visit Ames Saturday. I caught up w/ him on why he rescheduled, and where Iowa State stands.

"It's really encouraging for me to see, knowing a school like this is recruiting me... I just love how they play."

Coaches getting Technicals

This hit me last night after Terry got teed up. That was 4 straight games where the opposing bench drew at least one technical. Kelvin Sampson got ejected last night (while having a 20 point lead). Here's a link: https://nypost.com/2024/02/07/sports/houstons-kelvin-sampson-storms-court-screams-in-referees-faces/

What is going on?? While not perfect I think Big XII officials are better than most leagues. Are coaches under more pressure? I'm guessing boosters that pay NIL money are more vocal than they used to be. I'd be curious at to anyone else's opinion.
