What's streaming that's good TV/movies

With no sports and peeps recommended to stay at home, what are you watching or have watched that you can recommend?

I finished Altered Carbon 2 last week. Netflix. Would recommend if you have watched season 1. New story but would be way easier to understand if you've watched the previous. Good sci-fi.

Thinking of checking out the South Korean "Kingdom", also on Netflix.

Iowa State shines inside and outside in 74-49 romp Saturday over BYU at Hilton

Pulling the plug on cable

I just bought a firestick. I really don’t want to pay a +$120 monthly cable bill to support B1G network, SEC, ND, etc. I think the networks are what is causing the continuous realignments and revenue/talent inequality. I would even consider reverting back to radio broadcasts like in the 80-90s. Walters is very good. Anyway, how does CFB streaming work? I have heard you have to find a “pirate” feed . Is that the process? What network airs B12 games? Hopefully it is not ESPN. I live about 3 hours from ISU, so season tickets do not seem to be the right answer. Next year, I will be retired, so plenty of time to travel then.

Teams You'd Prefer to Avoid/Play in March

Avoid:

Texas A&M. Taylor at guard is electric if he is on. They are a really experienced team. Would hate to see them in a second round #2/#7 type scenario. Dark horse Final 4 team for me.

Kentucky: Tons of talent. Have seen them struggle all year only to turn it on come March.

Clemson. Impressed every time I see them play.

Any Big 12 team early who has seen our defense before.

Play:

Dayton. Extremely overrated.

Wisconsin. Our pressure defense would eat them alive.

Marquette. Have not been overly impressed. Lost their PG earlier in year to injury.

Purdue. Give me Purdue as the #1 seed in our bracket. They always tend to get knocked off early. With our pressure defense dont think Edey would ever get comfortable.

*** 2024 total wireless/internet/TV cost ***

I thought it might be interesting to compare with others on here your monthly wireless/internet/TV plans and their cost to see how much you streamers are beating old satellite TV holdouts like myself. I like to track everything lumped together as a whole so I can see where bundle discounts apply.

Here's where I'm at as of Feb 2024:
  • Internet - Mediacom 1000/50 plan, but speedtest results are more like 450/50 - $60/mon pretax minus $10 for 12 months discount (after annoying annual negotiation) = $50/mon (own my own modem so no equip rental)
  • Wireless - AT&T Unlimited Starter - $35 per smartphone/mon before taxes and fees.
  • TV - DirecTV satellite XTRA plan (grandfathered in) - $156/mon pretax and fees minus $55 for 12 months discount (after annoying annual negotiation) = $101/mon. Regional sports fee = $17/mon. "Advanced Receiver Service" ($15) + 3 set-top Genie rentals ($7/ea) = $36/mon. (I/m getting robbed!!)
  • HBO Max - $16 value but free as part of AT&T / DirectTV bundle I'm still grandfathered into = $0/mon.
  • Netflix Standard - $16/mon
  • Amazon Prime Video - $9/mon (the video streaming portion of our $16/mon Prime membership)
Total = 50 + (2 phones x 35) + 101 + 17 + 36 + 16 + 9 = $299/mon

Ouch.
