Hello everyone! Tis' the wrestling season!

I can't remember if I had mentioned this but Ben is going to be writing this season. I am very excited because he's a very talented writer. I think he'll be a great balance to the coverage the same way we're a good balance as podcast hosts together! Our podcast will make it's return next week. We record on Monday.

He isn't super active on the message boards so I'll make sure to get his stuff shared in here unless he decides he wants to be active!

Wife and I have been kicking around the idea of some sort of home camera system. Haven’t really don’t much research on systems, manufacturers, etc. do you have a ring doorbell and other cameras or a different manufacturer? Pros and cons to what you have? Just upfront cost or is there ongoing costs?

I hope you're all doing well as we move into the beautiful month of (R)October. I'm excited to share that I'll be visiting Iowa for Thanksgiving (I live in Am(e)sterdam), and I'm looking forward to this trip, including going to the Texas game. In connection with the above, I'd like to purchase an RV parking pass for the new RV village, as my folks just have a Class C and I'd like to roll the clock back and tailgate with it before they head down to AZ for the winter.

It's always good to be back in Cyclone (God's) country, and if any of y'all could lend an assist here that would be fantastic.

I decided to start doing some freelance work this year and did a piece for the Smithsonian about a portion of his life and includes a discussion of my items such as the photo and jersey, but I definitely didn't share all of my research and held back a bunch of things.

It wasn't meant to be a comprehensive piece with a rote recitation. Mentioned some of the exclusives on my site, such as the Klan in Ames, and corrected the record on other things.

Ex: It's always been said that Jack Trice's wife Cora Mae never returned to Ames after Jack died. That's actually incorrect. She bravely tried to resume her education at ISU the following year but didn't graduate. I think that's a far more compelling rendition of her character and spirit.

Would also love if people linked other stories and stuff from this week about Jack. The more the better!

After we sold our handicapped van last month, I started looking for a new vehicle to purchase, we wanted an SUV, really like the Toyota brand, so we have been looking at the new Grand Highlander. We went into a couple Toyota dealerships figuring we could order a new one, and then pick it up when it arrived, we are not in a hurry. Toyota does not take orders for new vehicles; they are allocated so many a couple of times a month and the wait time for the vehicle we want is 6 months up to a year or more. So, I started calling dealerships seeing what they had and could I purchase from them. Most dealers have a minimum $3,000 to $10,000 mark up on the Grand Highlander, or they want to put you on a waiting list, and will do so with a $500 refundable deposit, and then there is no guarantee that they can get you what you want, it's all luck of the draw.

Luckily being retired, I have plenty of time on my hands, and have been scouring the allocation list and phoning the dealers that are going to get the vehicle that we want. It's crazy out there, some dealers refusing to sell me a vehicle because they only sell within a 300-mile radius, others jacking up the price. I never thought finding a vehicle and willing to pay cash was so difficult.
