Yormark nuggets from WBB/MBB Media Days

*Early discussions underway to keep both tournaments in Kansas City through 2031. Goal is to have agreement finalized by March.

*Starting 2024-25, men will play 20 conference games and women will play 18. Difference is due to coaches' requests and the WBB tournament occurring a week earlier than MBB.

*Potential for "enhanced" broadcasts and coverage. Hinted at what the NFL is doing to bring in younger audience.

*Football scheduling parameters will include geography, competitive balance, history, and rivalries. Work ongoing.

*Olympic sport scheduling will focus on geography as well.

Edit to add: *Will explore splitting MBB and FB TV contracts in the future. Has the option, but will only do so if the value is there.

*New weekly SiriusXM radio show focusing on WBB and Olympic sports.

*Big 12 Mexico on track for Dec. 2024 (Kansas/Houston men and women).

*Rucker Park event again next summer, potentially with an alumni game included.

*Shaq making a return to P&L for 2024 tournament.

*Additional premium seating and hospitality options for fans at MBB/WBB championships.

Reaction Podcast is back! Monday episode.

Ben and I sat down on Monday to record our first episode of the season. We chatted the wrestle offs we look forward to, David Carr graduating and just a bunch of other tidbits about what we're hoping to learn at Media Day!

Enjoy!

Looking for Iowa Vacation Ideas

Do a vacation with two other couples every summer. Wed-Sun. Usually rent a VRBO/AirBnb. Pretty laid back, like to center around a lake or a cool area that has lots to do.

We were in Galena (I know, not Iowa) this year, have done Clear Lake, Lake Cornelia, Harpers Ferry, in the past.

It’s our turn to book for 2024. Looking for some suggestions if anyone has any. Usually shoot for within 3 to 4 hrs of DM.

Iowa's football schedule

AP poll came out and Iowa ended the Regular Season without playing one ranked team. Not went without beating a ranked team - they actually didn't even play a ranked team. I've done some research and I have yet to find a P5 team that has ever received this gift before. It looks like unless I missed something Iowa just played the weakest schedule in the history of college football. Woof!

MBB Single Game ticket sales (10/19)

ISU announced that single game MBB tickets would be going on sale today at 10 Central. I went on at 10 to attempt to purchase 6 tickets to the KU game, but was disappointed to see that it was already sold out. The Iowa game was the same.

I called the ticket office and asked what the deal was and they told me they opened up ticket sales to donors earlier in the week and all of the KU and Iowa tix got bought up.

If I am understanding correctly, ISU won’t be selling any tickets to the general (non donor) public this year for these games. I don’t remember this happening in previous years but could be wrong. If that’s the case, I guess the only option is to buy marked up resale tickets on Ticketmaster?

TIA for any advice!

Fake Field Goal Question

I use to coach hs football for 20 years. We ran a play off of our extra point team where the kicker followed through and missed the ball on purpose. The holder simultaneously threw the ball end over end in the air over the LOS looking like it was a bad kick. My ends would crash down and catch the ball for 2 points…it worked 90% of the time we ran it. I always talked to the officials ahead of time to give them the heads-up. Most crews thanked me and had no problem with it until I ran into a crew that said my holder could not pitch or pass the ball with his knee on the ground. Which makes sense because he is down. No different than taking a knee and passing it. So my question is when we faked the field goal, should that have been called down once we pitched it to our kicker because his knee was down. Just wondering if the rule has changed or even what the ruling is on this play. Thanks!!

The Coaching Turnaround Has Been Drastic

Really crazy how much better the entire offense seems now. Rocco has the chains off and is slinging it. Noel has become a solid WR after not doing anything the last 2 seasons and maybe is a good returner now too? All the RBs are playing better and seeing the field at a higher quality. TE's continue on the right pass. OL is slowly getting better at blocking although there was some rough spots today. Playcalling is better and guys seem to have clear types of usages that fit them better than before

Overall I'm stunned. I thought the Iowa, and then for sure Ohio games were a sign that CMC was heading the route of everyone who stays here too long. Instead we once again have a pulse. Props
