On That Note: Steal Away

Not sure how many regular OTN peeps know what I've been going through but I came home Super Bowl Sunday to the adult daughter of our neighbor in the process of robbing us. If you want more I posted about it in random thoughts thread.

Things have been very trying. I sat out of last week's OTN and debated taking a longer leave of absence but after some thought and post by @t-noah I realized that by stepping away I give her the power and while she's taken a lot from me I refuse to let this be one of them.

Now I'm a gallows humor type of person so as host this week when thinking of a topic, that part of me thought about a topic related to what I went through.

This topic was solely my idea so I want no flak directed at my OTN brothers regarding this topic being insensitive to me.

So this week the topic is songs where in the title or lyrics there are references to the following: steal, stolen, thief, rob/robbery.

"On That Note” is presented weekly by @MeanDean, @cyclones500 and myself.

NCAA Tournament

I’ve heard it’s a good chance we go to Omaha if we’re a 3 seed but may get shipped out West if we’re a 2 seed. My understanding is that you play closer to home the higher you are seeded. Why would we potentially get shipped out / penalized for being a higher seed? Thanks in advance.

Washington DC Family Vaca

So my family is planning a vacation for this year to Washington D.C.

I have not been to DC or really anywhere in that area.

I am spending a ton of time looking at all the things to do and there is a ton. But Hoping some on here have some pointers.

Will be traveling with my wife and 2 youngest kids, ages 8, 11. They love history so we want to do this while they are interested. We are thinking of extending trip a few days to go to Virginia Beach, because the other option for this year was a beach vaca, so we thought we could get the best of both worlds. We also may go to Philadelphia to see the historical places there before going to DC

Some things I am looking for info on:
  • Best way to get around DC, obviously trying to drive around is not the way, also keep in mind I have a bad leg so am trying to reduce walking some (not eliminate it) I know I will be walking a lot just dont want to walk an extra amount too and from hotel etc.
  • Best things to do and see. DC area, Phili, Va Beach, Gettysburg. etc
  • best places to eat, hopefully some budget friendly
  • best hotels in these areas. we like ones with kitchens etc for longer stays, residence inn, extended stay, suites etc. At least for DC being we will be staying there the longest. Gives us a little extra room and a chance to not eat out quite as much.
  • possible places to stop on way to and from that area, sites to see, Civ war spots, etc. in routes to and from the DC, Va Beach area.
The length of time is completely in flux right now, Thinking somewhere 10-14 days total with drive time. Depending on the extra addons outside DC.

Thanks in advance for any info and help!!!

Albert Einstein and the Bomb on Netflix

Watched this the other night. Not sure how accurate it is, but I believe the preface of the movie was that all the events of the movie are based on the real life of Einstein and that all words in the film are his own, either written or spoken.

Overall, I thought it was pretty well done. I had never really considered the personal burden he must have carried when his theory of special relativity directly impacted the development of the atomic bomb and the way in which he forever changed the world. There were lots of interesting insights into Einstein's involvement(and/or lack there of) in the development of the atomic bomb.

The film also highlights a lot of stark similarities between the state of the world(pre WWII) and the state of the world today.

I would definitely recommend.

Who are your most hated college basketball players...

...that we have played. So can't be Laetner or anyone like that. In-state rivals or conference foe players only.

I am sure there are threads of this already but I'm bored and lazy and don't want to look for it. I'm interested to see what posters are younger/older by who they choose.

Mine in no real order:

Jason Sutherland (Missouri)

Chris Kingsbury (Iowa)

Scot Pollard (Kansas)
