I signed up for Rokfin for Willie's recruiting information, so maybe something was announced in a podcast somewhere that I didn't watch. Willie does know a lot more about high schools recruits than anyone on Flo.

Espn plus carrying the Iowa State duals and not many on Flo, so that interest has declined.

It seems to me that if PSU or Iowa or Senior level aren't involved, the rest of news is irrelevant to both.

On one Flo show, they talked about why Gomez left Iowa State and Pyles said it is probably because he didn't like it. Which I don't think is accurate

Just my rant. Paying for ESPN Plus, Flo and Rofkin just to get the same or less for more money.

I know we've done this topic several years ago, but my son has been clearing his throat every fifteen seconds for like a month now, and it's driving me nuts. What are sounds or things that just drive you insane? Wet socks, a certain smell?

I cannot bear hearing people eat, specifically with their mouth open. (I think it's called misophonia?) And I do not like people in my space bubble - the six-foot COVID rule was my happy place.

What are yours?

I'm not sure exactly how to word this. Is there a topic about which your are more knowledgeable than the general population - so anytime it gets thrown around in casual discussion, it drives you insane when it's just totally misrepresented? If so, do you correct people?

I know more about HIPAA and private health information confidentiality than the average person, for a variety of reasons (including that it is "HIPAA" and not "HIPPA"). This gets misrepresented in debates online and in person all of the time. Since I'm certainly not an authority, just more familiar, I usually don't step in when people are talking about it. It's sort of more fun to watch the dumpster fire.

Do you know a lot about cement vs concrete? Or what is a bull market vs a bear market? What is your topic that drives you insane when people don't understand it?

Pretty genius idea. People can donate to a non-profit entity which will arrange and pay for athletes for appearances. An indirect way for fans to pay student athletes. Wonder if ISU could take advantage of something like this.

I know there are a lot of engineers here, so I have a question for you.

My son is going to be a freshman at Texas Tech this fall, and is very unsure of what he wants to major in. His strengths are definitely in the math/sciences. At Texas Tech (and maybe most universities) the first year or year and a half of Engineering classes are essentially the same for everyone. So, he has just declared the major of Foundational Engineering, and our plan is that along the way, he will find the right fit for the kind of engineering he ultimately wants to pursue. Is this a good strategy, or should he be finding other ways of exploring his options and deciding sooner rather than later on his discipline?

I'm a little out of my element as a social sciences grad. I have never really been sure of what engineers do, except for the ones that drive trains.

The Iowa State Risk Assessment team and University Counsel sent out these proposed categories of sports clubs into “low risk”, “high risk, supported” and “high risk, not supported”. In total they’re proposing cutting 14 club sports.
