Add another achievement to Charlie Kolar‘s seemingly ever-growing list.
The Cyclones’ redshirt sophomore tight end was named a third-team All-American on Monday by the Associated Press. Kolar is the first Cyclone to earn AP All-American honors since Troy Davis did it following back-to-back seasons in 1995 and 1996.
The Norman, Okla. native was a consensus first-team All-Big 12 selection, as well as being an Academic All-American, after accumulating 48 catches for 675 yards and seven touchdowns this season. His receptions and receiving touchdown marks are the second-most by a tight end in school history while his yardage total is a new school record.
Assuming he maintains this production for at least one more season, Kolar will go down as the most productive tight end in Iowa State history considering he already ranks No. 5 in school history on the tight end receiving yards chart and No. 6 in tight end receptions.
Hopefully, the only difference next season will be Kolar garnering the attention of Mackey Award voters the same way he has for All-Big 12 and All-American voters this year.
