AMES — It’s game week.

Iowa State released its depth chart for Saturday’s season opener vs. UNI on Monday morning and for the most part, it was similar to what Matt Campbell released at the Big 12 media days back in July.

There were a few changes though, which are outlined below.

It is notable that Mackenro Alexander, a senior defensive back who was arrested last week, is still listed at second-string Star behind Everett Edwards. This doesn’t mean that Alexander will play on Saturday vs. the Panthers, but it is something to keep an eye on when Campbell holds his weekly press conference at 11:30.

Some movement on the defensive line… Junior Matt Leo was at DT in July and is now second-strong DE behind J.D. Waggoner. Also, redshirt freshman Enyi Uwazurike has moved from DE to DT.

— A redshirt freshman walk-on named Aaron Austin is listed as a backup linebacker to Willie Harvey. He was not on the pre-camp depth chart. Austin was the Scout Team Co-Player of the Year in 2016.

— There is a battle at right guard apparently on the offensive line. There’s an OR in between Oge Udeogu and Josh Knipfel.

— Iowa State has “TBA” listed for its kick returners for Saturday.
