There are few things in sports more fluid than recruiting. This week, a few things have changed for Iowa State men’s basketball.

*** McKinley Wright, a point guard out of Minnesota, no longer has an Iowa State offer. This comes just days after Wright announced via Twitter that Iowa State would receive his first official visit. A few days ago, Iowa State informed Wright that they are no longer recruiting him.

Why?

It’s complicated, but it all comes down to fit (style of play) and timing. Iowa State has its eye on other point guards ahead of Wright, who was ready to make a decision sooner rather than later.

It is a refreshing case of a program being honest with a kid. This just doesn’t happen very often.

*** Iowa State will receive a visit from a combo guard out of Houston named Darius McNeill on Sept. 3. McNeill, listed at 6-foot-3, reportedly has offers from Baylor, Cincinnati, LSU, TCU and others.

*** Finally, Terrance Lewis, a small forward out of Milwaukee, is on campus right now. For what it’s worth, I LOVE Iowa State’s chances with this four-star recruit.

Chris Williamshttp://www.CycloneFanatic.com
Chris was hired as Cyclone Fanatic’s publisher in the fall of 2009. He is Iowa State football's postgame show host on the Cyclone Radio Network and can be heard daily from 4-7 on Des Moines' top-rated sports station, 1460 KXnO. Williams, a 2007 graduate of Iowa State’s Greenlee School of Journalism, is the former publisher of the old CycloneNation.com (Scout.com). He has also written for the Des Moines Register, the Ames Tribune, CycloneReport.com and is the former sports director at KMA Radio. When Williams isn’t working, you can usually find him doing something outdoors with his wife Ashley, daughter Camryn, and Golden Retriever Dierks. He enjoys golfing, boating, country music, the Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Braves and is passionate about any and all motor sports so finding Williams at a local dirt track is very common.
