Matt Campbell is quickly putting his staff together

This Matt Campbell guy doesn’t waste any time.

During his introductory press conference on Monday, Jamie Pollard noted that Iowa State’s new head football coach was already working for the “good guys” (my words, not Pollard’s) on Saturday night.

It shows.

As of Tuesday morning, it looks like a handful of Campbell’s staff spots at ISU have been filled.

Of course, there is running backs coach Louis Ayeni, who Campbell has already confirmed will be at Iowa State next season.

According to a Sunday night report from Jordan Strack of WTOI-11 in Toledo, Jason Candle (offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach) and Tom Manning (offensive line coach) will “absolutely” be joining Campbell at Iowa State.

On Monday, Sports Illustrated reported that Toledo linebackers coach Tyson Veidt and cornerbacks coach D.K. McDonald Jr. are joining Campbell’s staff as well.

In addition to that, a Monday Football Scoop report noted that Illinois tight end/special teams coordinator Alex Golesh will join the Iowa State staff.

This morning, Football Scoop reported that Toledo strength and conditioning coach Rudy Wade will be joining Campbell at Iowa State.

Finally, John Kuceyeski, Campbell’s director of high school relations at Toledo, is already tweeting like he is a member of Iowa State’s staff.

Below is how I’ve projected the staff being placed at this time. Of course, this is relative to change. I have it organized based off of how Campbell’s staff was organized at Toledo, not how Rhoads had it previously at Iowa State.

Campbell, who met individually with Iowa State’s assistants under Paul Rhoads on Monday, could move things around too. Stay tuned.
