Yet another endzone renovation example

Forgive me for not dredging up one of the many old threads on the topic, but I stumbled upon an endzone renovation going on at UNC, which looks pretty interesting. It appears that it consists only of premium seating, with various levels of club seats and suites, and they're not cheap either. Suites (which have already sold out apparently) are going for 50,000 per year and most of the club seats are 2,000 per seat per year.

Will be interesting to see what ISU has planned for premium vs. regular seating in the south endzone.

That is a pretty cool plan.

I am thinking ours should have less of the club/priority seating, as I am sure it is cheaper to build regular seating without all the extra amenities. On the other hand, that premium seating could raise more revenue than the regular seating.

Time will tell, but that is a cool expansion IMO, thanks for sharing!

Maybe there should be a CycloneFanatic endzone donation graphic and it fills as people donate.

How much would each Fanatic have to give to make this happen? The Cyclone Fanatic South Endzone has a nice ring to it. We could all get free tickets a few times a year as well for donating.

Or a Cyclone Fanatic End Zone Thread counter that fills up each time a new thread about the freaking south end zone is opened. That baby would fill up in NO TIME!

This.

Would be free advertising for CW/CF forever.

I like it. Looks something like the Clemson endzone.

Question 1:

How much $$$ would it take to bowl in the endzone?

Question 2:

How many users are on CycloneFanatic?

Just wished they would make metal bleachers like they have now that extended all across the south endzone just to bowl it in.

That sounds like super cheap expansion, but JTS would look a lot better

If Iowa state wanted to raise a fund for the SEZ they would get the money for it.

put a freaking donation box at every Iowa state sporting event. not only would they get the "chump" change from the donation box it would raise awareness drawing in the big donors. they could get this done.

I think this and the Clemson template will eventually be the way JP goes with this and why bleachers haven't been put up on the cheap (even though it would look nicer). He knows the value of those suites and that it wouldn't provide that much more, if any revenue, in regular seating. He wants to do it right and is waiting for that opportunity.

I like the "change jar" idea at sporting events though.

I would MAYBE change the middle of that to boxes. With that, not only would we raise some really good money with the boxes, but we should be in the top half of attendence in the conf. If I remember right, we only need to get about 5k more per game.

The rendering in the pic is awesome.

well done jukebox. this is what needs to happen. why does it have to bowl in? just make it permanent like this and not howled in and save all the demo money. be half the projected cost id think...

If he's using the UNC endzone, which I'm assuming he is, then the top row is all suites (50k per year), and the rest of the seats are all various club sections (2k per seat per year or more). UNC will pay that thing off in no time and be banking some pretty good coin after that.

I love the idea! I find it very attractive. My question is.... What kind of big donor is willing to sit in the end zone and pay that kind of money? I know if I'm paying 2k per ticket I want the best seat possible.

I think if ISU were to follow this sort of model, they'd have to include some non-premium seats as well. I could see something like a lower deck of regular priced seats to accomodate the current endzone ticket holders and hillside ticket holders. Then maybe a club section and/or suites on top of that. Also, the prices for the club seats/suites would probably be less than the current club section and suites, since those are a better view.

Currently the Jack Trice Club section has 542 seats, and it's a minimum $5000 donation to buy up to 4 seats, at $1500 a pop. Let's say a new endzone club section could have 600 seats (just pulling a number out of thin air), and you reduced it to a $2500 donation to buy 4 tickets at $1000 a pop. That would generate, at a minimum, almost $1 million in revenue each year, not including the sale of alcohol, which would almost certainly be available just like the JT Club.

Anyway, the point is that ISU could get very creative with this project, and I think there are a lot of ways that it could nearly pay for itself, or at least offset a large chunk of the debt it will incur. One thing I have no idea about would be the demand for premium seating in the endzone, but I would think if it was appropriately priced, people would be interested.
