Yankees contemplate signing Barry Bonds

I wouldn't like his move very much. It may help the team win games but it would put a damper on the last half of the last season of Yankee Stadium. However, if he got them World Series Ring 27 he may be forgiven.

I hope they sign him and it's a big fiasco. ****ing Yankees would deserve that...

Just imagine this possibility.

Game 7 at Yankee stadium. Bottom of the ninth and the Cubs lead 10-9. One man on and Bonds comes to the plate. Wood tries to intentionally walk Bonds but leaves one just outside of the plate. Bonds reaches across the plate and sends the ball over the right field fence. Walk off home run.

Yes I have been a Cubs fan for over 30 years can you tell by the optimism?

I'm pretty sure that Bonds is going to sign with the Yankees, and they will keep him around for next year. My evidence? They are building their new ballpark 63% bigger to accommodate his humongous head (and ego).

They want ARod, Ruth, Bonds, all the biggest hitters. Sammy did not hit the 700 club. ARod will.

Just the fact you have the Cubbies in the WS is pretty optomistic... They have the best team in baseball thus far so it isn't crazy. I will be interested to see if Dempster can really pitch as well as he has and if Harden stays healthy the rest of the way. If those hold, I don't think it's entirely crazy.... I think a Phillies-Cubs NLCS would be a fun one to see.....

I think it's crazy no one will sign him. He will get on base 48% of the time.... That helps your team. I also think he could hit 10-15 HRs in the 2nd half... That helps your team as well. I know it will be a media circus, but the Yankess are on the outside looking in right now. For $200,000 this year (league minimum divided in half approximatley), I don't see how a team that is in 3rd place could pass..... If you're in first, then you worry about messing up team chemistry so that's understandable. If you're so far out of it, it's really pointless. If you're in it, let the dude play. His court date isn't till next year anyways...

I figured that some smaller market team would have signed him by now, just for the PUB and to sell some more tickets.

I'm surprised that the Yankee's are mentioned, and would be shocked if they signed him, but what do I know.

The thing that would make sense for the Yankees is there is NO WAY Bonds can possibly think he is bigger than the team. With a small market team there would be a division and he would do his two locker, recliner bit. That wouldn't fly in the Bronx.

The Yankees have only given up 16 more runs than first place, Boston. Pitching is not responsible for the Yankees woes. Although getting Rasner out of the rotation and if Wang was back wouldn't hurt.

Offense is the Yankees biggest issue. Last year there were 33 games all year they scored 2 or less runs. This year they have 32 at the All-Star break. They need to get everyone healthy but it isn't going to happen so some guys need to step it up. The one thing they have going for them is the 'stache

The Yankees are close to signing Sexson to a very minimal contract for the rest of the year.

The Yankees will only have to pay Sexson the prorated minimum of $390,000 from his $14 million salary with the Mariners. Seattle is eating the remainder of the nearly $6 million Sexson is owed for the season.

Could put an end to this talk

I think there's a big drop-off between Bonds and Sexson. As much as I don't like Bonds, if he doesn't hit a homer, he will probably walk. If Sexson doesn't hit a homer, he'll probably strikeout.
