I'm in the playoffs. I have a .3 point lead heading into tonight's game. I have Sidney Rice. My opponent has no players remaining. Would I incur some sort of penalty for just benching Sidney Rice and leaving an empty slot? I'm afraid with the weather he might fumble, etc and end up with negative points.

Thanks in advance.

nope, bench him. But their might be an odd chance that they fix a few stats and your points could be readjusted and u could lose it too.

You could look at your league rules. There would be no penalty in my yahoo league, but the remaining members wouldn't be happy if anyone pulled a move like that.

I wouldn't worry as much about this as much as i'd worry about the points being adjusted and you losing.

I would pull him. Otherwise, it's like throwing the ball down the field when you should just line up in the victory formation and run out the clock.

Definitely more likely that you would lose via a stat adjustment than you would because Rice got you negative points. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever seen a WR get negative points. This isn't exactly fantasy baseball where you benching pitchers is a legitimate strategy to preserve wins.

Play him, since its easy for the points to be adjusted when stats are finalized, you could lose a point.

Mike Thomas had -.80 for me last week.

Do NOT play him with that kind of lead! If there are any adjusted stats, they have already been adjusted by Yahoo.

I always bench my Monday night guys, leave the slot empty, and "take the knee" when I get in this situation of such a slim where my opponent has no Monday night players.

What's wrong with benching a guy with the lead?

If the stat corrections for Sunday's games are already done, I'd bench Rice tonight.

Johnny Knox got me -1 last week :realmad:

I agree with this. I see no dishonor in benching one of your players for essentially any reason so long as you are not colluding with another player.

It all depends on if you want to be invited back to the league next year.
