WTF is Schwan’s thinking

schwans still in michigan here... they left me a promo flyer. expensive $$$
I guess I don't agree that it's THAT expensive. It's not cheap. But if you break down their servings and cost...it's very reasonable.

For instance if you wanted a chicken patty and fries. Chicken patties are $16 for 12 and fries are $9.50 for 13 servings. So you can have a chicken patty and fries for $2.10. Tough to beat that. Even if you doubled that is under $4.50.

That was the thing with Schwans. It was expensive, it was also really, really good, especially for frozen food. The ice cream, cheese balls, chicken strips, fan tail shrimp, pizza....all of it was great. The gold rush ice creams bars are still the best ice cream bar I've ever had. I grew up in the middle of nowhere and to have this stuff dropped off at our door was awesome.
I was going to say the same thing. My mom bought a to. From Schwab’s because they delivered and we couldn’t always get to town.

Agree. The other home delivery outfits that have become popular recently certainly aren’t cheap either.

I can remember my mom getting those big tins of fruit and dividing them up into quart-sized freezer boxes. Sunday night suppers were always ice cream with sliced peaches, or strawberries, or raspberries and a bowl of popcorn. She’d save the tins and store Christmas decorations in them.

Used to get food from them all the time. Then the quality went down and I could find better alternatives at the store. Then they started a “fuel charge” on top of already high prices. Haven’t bought a thing from them in over 15 years and don’t miss it.
