Would you trade GMAC for Lickliter

Had this discussion at work today.

Would you do a straight up trade at the end of the season. GMAC to IOWA, Lick to ISU? If you would make the trade, who do you think would have more success?

Forget about the contracts and buyouts and all that, not trying to get too detailed.

Just a coach for coach or coaching staff for staff trade?

3 years ago, I think Lick would have looked like an attractive hire if ISU was looking. Likewise, I think GMAC would have ended up at IOWA had he not come here first?

Just something for thought this afternoon, certainly not to be taken too seriously

Heck no. Iowa plays a boring style of basketball and Greg at least is able to recruit more talent then a bunch of 6 foot something white boys that belong in the MVC not Big 10.

Trying to be honest and not too serious, Lick would get more mileage out of our talent.

Whether he could then recruit is a sad story. He needs to hire Wayne for recruiting.

If you are talking a contract for contract trade, the answer is probably yes for that too.

No reason to lock either coach up for five years from now.

Lick has taken the worst collection of players in UIowa history and is 10-19.

GMAC has taken the best collection of players in the state and is only 14-16.

If you're just talking coaching, Lick has done more with less this year. How sad is that. Makes you want to be a UNI fan.

yeah, like that's gonna happen

right now I'd switch ... but I'm not to be taken too seriously.

Just trying to start a friendly discussion, I know that can be quite difficult around here.

The likelihood of this happening would be even less likely then a 3-19 football coach getting hired as a head coach at a perennial top 25 program :wideeyed:

I am not suggesting we try it. But I wonder who would do better if suddenly the switch was made.

.... who only have four less wins than us, and they have a better conference record.
Sad.

This is stupid. Lets trade a coach that has problems winning and keeping players for a coach that has problems winning and keeping players. You think Mac has kille Hilton Magic, Lick would put it another 4 feet under.

Ok. I would say GMAC has recruited plenty of guys that belong in the MVC and not the BIG XII. Just saying....

No! What the **** is wrong with you guys? I mean, you are asking about Alford and Lickliter? We won't hire someone who coaches or coached for our biggest rival who was not successful. Why would you even ask that question? That's like say, well, would you trade Dean Oliver for Jamal Tinsley!?! It doesn't make sense. Worse overall record and coaching at our rival.... We're not happy with McD, that doesn't mean we're ready to just throw in the god damn towel...
