Hello everyone! I have been a lurker on this site for over 2 yrs and have always enjoyed the discussions. The reason that I have finally decided to register and post was to see if anyone out there currently works for Pioneer or has friends/family that does. I have recently been approached by them concerning a position that they have open and I am looking for any insight into what it is like to work there. What is the work culture like? Things that make it a great place to work and things that don't? Is it a place that people stay at once they get a job there? Job stability? Any insight would be appreciated. I have a job that I really enjoy now but my family and I would really love to get back to central Iowa.

Let me be the first to say..
WELCOME ABBBOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAARRRRRRDDDDDDDDD!!!!

Dont know anything about pioneer.

I worked at one of their plants in college ... but that was before (or actually during) them being bought by Dupont. Not sure if that changed things for better or worse.

Good company at the time, though I was just above the peon-line ... I'm guessing you're looking at a job a little higher up.

Very good company to work for. Was better before DuPont but still good! I've been here for 10 years and plan on retiring at Pioneer in about 25 years.

I have 2 friends that work there and they really like it. Not sure what makes them like it there, but they like it.

I believe they are headquartered in Johnston, IA.

That's all I got.

What sort of position are you looking at at Pioneer?

I've worked at Pioneer for 15+ years and in general would say it is a very good place to work. Things are a bit different after the DuPont acquisition but still overall a good work environment. Good people who work hard and truly believe they are doing good work.....feeding a growing and hungry world.

What sort of position are you looking at at Pioneer?

And, what are you looking for? Pioneer has field jobs and desk jobs, lab jobs and media jobs, and everything in between.

I think you have to like the culture of the specific position in order to like working there. They do treat employees and interns very well.

Only been at PHI for about a month but I like what I've seen so far and I like everyone I've met. Not much to compare it to however as it is my first job out of college :)

Everyone I work with though has been at the company for a while so that obviously means stability is good. It's probably too early to tell but I personally feel good about my future as well as Pioneer's.

Thanks for all of the valuable insight. Keep them coming.

Can't say as I would look forward to the corn floggings!

I don't work there, but work very closely with Pioneer folks on a couple of different issues related to seed. From all my time there (uhh - a lot of time there) I continue to be impressed with everyone. Professional, open, do-the-right-thing atmosphere. The corporate culture of Johnston is much, MUCH different than their competitors. About a 100x better...
