Wings Over Dallas Air Show Collision

Hope the B17 wasn't full of passengers lots of the time you can catch a ride on those old bombers.

I don’t want to start rumors, but either that pilot lost control of his plane or it was on purpose.

I've always been anti-air shows. I realize this is a 1 in 100 event, but...it's 1.

And then add in the fact you have that major of a blind spot and in increases ten fold. I just don't really see the point other than looking cool defying death until...death.
Like free climbing, its fine until its not.

So sad, the pilot of the b-17 was retiring after this flight. He had been flying it since 1987. RIP

Don’t get me wrong, I feel terrible for the people, families and friends involved, but, this is the reason I do not go to air shows. I would never want to see this in person. In all seriousness, at least no one involved had time to think about it.

Regulations do not allow for passengers during airshows.
The P-63 has a huge blind spot.... pilot error and that blind spot could easily be the cause.

Pretty much this from what I can tell. The P-63 was in a descending left turn so it is highly likely he never saw the B-17. Goes without saying the B-17 crew never saw him either so none of them knew what happened.

It will be very interesting to hear what the plan was and whatnot. Airshows that I have been around are NOT planned for aircraft to be at the same altitude and never make turns like this. Everyone is at a different altitude and do not turn until they are well away from the the flightline.

I follow a lot of aviation accounts on YT. The number of air show accidents is insane.
