Not to be pessimistic. But thinking as I type, if ESPN controls ACC and all indications are PAC 12 will not go FOX in next deal, ESPN has all incentive to break up any chance Big XII becomes #3 conference. Is there concern then that ESPN ultimately accomplishes this by presuming SEC to offer Okie St?

I have said it before and it bears repeating….KState is over a generation removed from being the absolute worst D1 college football program. Anyone who is mid 30’s and under would not remember KState football pre-Snyder. Think about this….They were the Kansas (as we know them today) of the Big 8, only way worse. Which is why Snyder is so revered (as he should be) at KState. He made them relevant which was no easy feat, and no one since has even come close to matching his success.

If anything, it gives me hope that Iowa State could do something similar with Campbell.

Lots of people forget to mention the purple kitties have a new OC (Collin Klein). Klein's coaching experience per Wikipedia.

2014 & 2015: assistant director of recruiting & defensive quality control coach @ Kansas State
2016: QB coach @ Northern Iowa
2017: QB coach at Kansas State
2018: QB coach & co-OC @ Kansas State
2019: Demoted to QB coach @ Kansas State (Courtney Messingham beat him out)
2022: OC

Note: 2018: Kansas State offense ranked #111 in total team offense.

K-State fans are arrogant as **** because they are the worst football program historically in CFB history but they got pulled out of the cellar by Snyder, and now one of the few schools that they think they got the upper hand on is moving ahead of them.

We now have a better program, a bigger and better fanbase, a better university overall (K-State essentially has juco admission standards). They are in a state with the worst power conference football program of the last 15 years and they still have fewer fans than KU.

I kind of like when the K-State fans get upset. They are very clearly threatened by what ISU is becoming under Campbell, and are concerned about where K-State is heading. It makes sense too. ISU has moved from the bottom three into that middle of the pack with realistic chances to threaten for a title every few years. That was a space that K-State managed to occupy form most to the early 2000's. Add to it that Baylor has also ascended during that period and their legendary head coach is gone. They have to do everything they can to make their program look like this established juggernaut before they flatline again.

The writing is on the wall. Okey State, Baylor, Cincinnati, ISU, Houston, West Virginia, all on the rise. Martinez is gonna be their savior lol....

They know Snyder. They know he gone.

They know how ISU is a similar school who who struggled to find its "Snyder" for a few decades...until the past 6 years.

KSU could be great without Snyder...but the odds of it aren't any greater than ISU being good at football in the 80s, 90s, 00s and 10s.

That's ISU's last five B12 finishes.

We have more question marks than some of those years, but less the others.

I'm totally fine with the 5th and 6th predictions, but the reality is they would be outlier seasons for ISU. Five years is an eternity in college football cycles.

A seventh prediction would mean thinking we have less weapons on the field than Campbell's second season which is objectively not true...or thinking the Big 12 is the deepest it's been in six years which is also not true, if anything this is the most wide open the conference has ever been since its creation.
