MLB: will the cubs??

The key to defeating the Cardinals in the playoffs:

Start a left-handed rookie pitcher with an ERA over 6 and who has been smashed by every other team in the league.

I'm just hoping the Cardinals finish strong, but give some of the key players a break, so they don't 3'n'out in the playoffs.

The break might not be the best option. Mitch Williams on the MLB channel has turned out to be an outstanding analyst on the nightly show. He made a point this week that the first team to clinch a division rarely wins the World Series. There is a natural tendency to slack off and it's just too hard to turn the competitive juices back on.

The cardinals locked themselves in long ago this season - I hate to say it but they earned the nl central months ago.

So Kryo have you finally switched to the redbirds???

No - I'll always pull for my Cubies, but I think I have to bite my pride and say it. The Cardinals are a much better team. And as much as I hate to say it I think they have a really good chance to make a great run through October..... ah crap as soon as I press "Submit Reply" this is on my record isn't it

I'm just glad the Cardinals came out in August and played so well to win it versus having it be a case of who backs in because the division needs a winner. They definitely earned it.

After this thread is buried, just go back and delete this and no one will be the wiser...except that I quoted it...rats.

I have an honest question that hopefully can be answered honestly by the Cardinal fans that continually do this.

Why do the Cardinal fans care more about the Cubs than there own team?

I apologize if this has been brought up before but I've never seen an honest answer.

It's easy for me to say that the Cardinals are better. They are. Like I've said before, you had told me in March that the season would turn out this way, I would have told you that you were crazy. I think most Cardinal fans would say the same.

That's never been answered. It's been buried in smack talk about something that's been finished for quite a while, and that we've acknowledged to be over for quite a while.

It makes me feel like I should find a German discussion board and talk smack about the Battle of the Bulge.

Notice that Cards fans weren't that loud back in March.

As unpredictable as it really is, this is why baseball is so much fun.

I hope that the Cubs don't clinch it for the Cards today since they are playing the Giants. I would like to see the Rockies pad their wild card lead and the Cubs can help out be defeating the Giants.

Not happening tonight!!!

Jeff Baker goes down 0-2...comes back and parks a 2-run shot! Cubs lead 3-2 top of 9th!
