I believe it’s:

‘20- Played TE as a HS senior (basketball before that)
‘21- Starting OT at Independence CC
‘22- Redshirted at ISU, played in 2 games
‘23- Starting at ISU

So I think it’s that he’s only played OL for three years.

But can the coaches teach him to play football in practice before playing in games? He looks the part and is clearly improving each week but it’s been brutal, at times. Out of 21 OL on the roster, there’s no one else that can play until Neal gets up to speed?

I get what your saying, but if the coaches feel it's best for the team to play him now (so he gets the reps he needs) I'm OK with that.
