I think there can be no doubt that the future of college sports in now completely in the hands of the 18-20 year old athletes playing whichever sport is being considered. Unlimited transfers, high dollar money available, what more could a 19 year old ask for? Welcome to the Wild, Wild West.

Hell of a lot better than the future being in the hands of a few old rich white men.

I'd say the control is in the hands of boosters/donors. Biggest wallets will win. Most kids getting paid will flush out and won't have a dime soon after college is done. Hope they have a degree to fall back on.

IMO it is the fans that are most impacted by these changes. Gone are the days of conference stability, player familiarity, rivalries, etc. It would be incredibly hard to be a head coach today.

Personally is has already started to impact my interest and support of college athletics.

Me too. It's increased it. Love that its like free agency every off season.

Really? You like the idea of a budding star freshman basketball player being swooped away for money? Honest question: Would Breece Hall have stayed three years at ISU in today's environment?

Yeah, win some, lose some. Being St. Bonaventure West hasn't seemed so bad this year. In the grand scheme of things ISU is going to steal a lot more productive players from smaller programs than we will lose.

Who do you think is writing these checks? The same people are still running things, they have even more power now, they can even dictate who plays or who leaves. Hell, they can even get tax relief for their contributions.

With NIL and transfer portal, coaches will have to rebuild their rosters every year, especially in basketball. Gone are the days of sitting on the bench and paying your dues during the freshman and sophomore years so you can play your junior and senior years.

Saw the thread title and immediately thought of Salma Hayek's ass.
