No it was a friend of mine that told me Jay's sister lives around here.

He was from South Dakota and her family is from Texas.

He may have been born in South Dakota, but he grew up in and played high school ball in Gothenberg, NE. The town claims him as one of their most famous alums and he operates a hunting ranch in the area.

A guy my family rents land from is big into horse back riding and had actually purchased horses from Jay a few times. They were pretty good friends. My brother was a big Cowboy fan as a kid, and the landlord was able to get him Jay's autograph. Always had a positive impression of him, even though I hated the Cowboys.

Sad to hear about this.
