Why was Brock still in the game for the last two possessions?

Spoiler alert:
This is NOT a thread about Re’al Mitchell’s playing time.

I am respectfully wondering why Brock was still in the game when the game went to 49-24 with several minutes and two (I believe) possessions remaining for our offense?

CMC is the best coach we’ve ever had in my 40 years of watching Cyclone Football- so I’m not here to second guess CMC. However, I don’t want to see Brock get hurt after the game was well in hand. I thought Re’al should’ve been the QB at this point to protect Brock and to give Re’al some valuable reps.

We only had the ball once when it was 49-24 and the possession went, run by Lang, run by Lang, run by Lang, kneel down, kneel down. I don't think Brock was in too much danger of getting hurt there.

That’s what I’m talking about. Re’al could’ve seen some reps. Even if just two or three plays. Plus, as dirty as TCU was playing, why risk one of their guys coming in to take a cheap shot...?

Yep- it was #12 for TCU...incidentally, the same guy who was throwing punches at our guys in the end zone a few minutes later. Exactly what I was worried about. These Texas schools absolutely hate for us to beat them...ala the end of the Baylor game last year.

If there were designed runs with him or something it might be a thing but coming out to finish quite possibly his best overall game by handing off was fine.

Re-al for 4 plays isn't legit reps.

If he takes one step after handing the ball off he is “carrying out a fake” and anyone can hit him without penalty. I know we are talking extremely low % stuff but I’d just rather see him on the sidelines with that type of lead unless we are taking a knee.

I wondered the same. Didn't feel necessary to expose Brock to potential insures given how chippy things had gotten toward the end.

Put in ReAl to hand the ball off 3(?) times.
Why. I get crazy things happen, but what does he really gain from that?

Or maybe they could have run some read option. Then it's both running and valuable.

Not a big deal though.. but I did wonder why he didn't get in at the end.
