I've been watching others recruiting of the past 72 hours and there are pledges all over the place. Even some of our past pledges have re-pledged such as Tracy Robertson to Minnesota and Doran Guillory to Iowa.....I mean common Doran, Iowa was the best you could do, do you realize that they called you because Marcus Marlbourgh was taken from them by Missou....

Its interesting that our current commit list according to Rivals is stagnant at 18, wonder how our coaches feel with little more then a week til signing day and what was once a strong point of our recruiting class is now the weakest part. Our OL and DL have taken a huge hit on these decommits and either Chiz and his staff have shut up about who their talking to, or, were in real trouble. My guess is the first....thats a bummer if your paying for a service that has nothing to report except speculation....

Speaking of speculation, if you go through the ESPN recruiting tracker and pick ISU, there are a lot of guys that have been in contact with ISU about potential spots. Some i've never heard of but, one thing i did notice was that the level of the recruits were still after are beginning to look a bit on the diamond in the rough stage. I think our coaches have a understanding of talent and whos got it and who dont. Obviously because we've never had other big time programs taking our recruits away....

I only hope they can see into the future for these 18 year olds and find the ones that really have the athletic ability and all they need is direction to explode case in point Lonzie Range - he will be the steal of this years class....I think Darks, Johnson, Benton and Land if they all sign and develop along with last years recruits will give us a great secondary for the future - which one will be the next Huff or Griffin......my guess is Benton.....maybe Mathews as a OLB or Kellman if hes still a part of the team - rumor was he had left the team - anyone know anything about that????

Good Luck Chiz, were anxious to see how things shake out in a week!!!!

Doran is going to Houston, Nate Guillory is an EIU recruit. I think the ISU recruiting is being hushed (by recruits and rivals) until the signing date.

Lets hope it's just hushed and not that we don't have anything new to report other than the latest decommit.

Kellman was discussed elsewhere and he is still with the team and apparently just had a hard time initially adapting to school but all sounds find now.

Both Paul Clark (CR) and Jeremy (CF) have stated that the coaches are trying to keep things tight to the vest in hopes of avoiding players they are looking at getting poached.

I can only assume that both PC and Jeremy are helping them by keeping tighter-lipped on developments.

I think the silence, while frustrating to recruiting followers thirsty for updates, should help us come next Wed.

Go get 'em Chiz & Co.!!

This is awesome news.....

Kind of assumed this to be true without hearing it....i mean it just went completely quiet....has to be frustrating to PC as well....But, the success of this program i'm sure has a direct result on the success of his site and CF so keeping quiet for a week will suck, but, i'm all for it if it means keeping good players to our greedy lil ol selves!!!!

Did see something funny, did anyone see that Louisiana Lafayette beat our Toledo, Central Michigan and IOWA for a db....thats gotta hurt when the home of BOB SANDERS NFL DEF MVP cannot beat out La-Layf for a recruit....wow!!!!:biglaugh:

Kmac, would 18-20 signees be all that bad?? If you figure half will redshirt and you can only have 85 total scholarships, I would think if we got 20 per year plus gave a couple schollies to walk ons we would always be pretty close to the limit and probably exceed it. And even then it would almost require guys leaving the program to make room.

I guess to me, if we could get 15 or 16 rock solid guys each year that we were pretty sure would stay all the way through their senior year, that would be perfect.

That might not be the whole story. Maybe the guy just didn't want to go north or something that's not made public. Who knows.

We are THE LAST school that should be laughing at other schools recruiting woes. I have some faith, but WOAH... with this class (as of now) will take a miracle to qualify everyone, heal up injuries, and take us to be competitive in the Big 12 North.

I do have faith in Chizik, but yikes

I hear ya, i don't make fun of others woes, just Iowas.....

Regardless of who's in this class, i would say right now that 75% will get redshirted to build both body and mind for four great years of ball. I'm not worried about our commits, you might see a handful on the field just like we did last years group. But, you want to get excited, look at last years redshirts, they will be eager to get pt so watch the spring game, there will be some fighting for positions in that game so it should be fun to watch who elevates themselves.....

And next year, after our 6 wins, we won't be dealing with nearly as many decommits because people will be buzzing about Iowa States progress under chizik, when that happens, recruiting takes off...

Our day is coming clones fans, hang on, the ride might get bumpy but this coach and his staff have a system and a vision on how to build it to be where it needs to be and all we have to do is support and be patient.....WE WILL WIN!!!!:notworthy:

Chizik has said from day one when he was at Texas, if they were short on commits they would look around the conference and see who other schools had commited and then go after some of those players, all at the last min. This is one reason the staff want to keep everything so quite. Mac Brown can look at Rivals for $10.00 and steal a kid from school X just because he is the head coach at Texas.

Just so you know and if you are wondering Scout and the site formally know as, but still know as Cyclone Nation has no new commits either.

Next thing you know, athletic dpt. administrators will have to sign contracts saying they won't mention recruiting info to anyone outside the office. The only other way anyone will get any info is from the players or their HS coaches.

I like to read great recruting info just like any other Cy fan, BUT I would rather be going to bowl games instead!!!! For now we my not be able to do both.

Recruiting sites are like paparazzi. They prey on and hound the recruits that are connected to the school. Obviously there is a market for this type of information much like tabloids.

These sites exploit the recruiting process to make a profit. The irony is that they may actually be hurting the school which they are profiting from.

i guess i just don't see a bunch of signing day "surprises". I'm sure there will be some 1 and 2 star guys that we bring in at the last minute but to get excited about the possibility of bringing in some 3 and 4 star guys in this last week are probably only going to leave you dissapointed. our best chance of landing any 3 star guys are the 2 de's we are after in harper and moore. other then that, i'm not expecting much more then some "diamonds in the rough".
