Who Will Step Up?

In my opinion, Wes is the emotional leader of our baseketball team. He hits big shots and I think the younger guys really feed off of his intensity. If youve ever watched him when they announce the starting line-ups in Hilton you know he is intense and extremely focused. Who will step up and give this team a spark. I hope Clark and Jiri really take charge this weekend. If Jiri can hold his own and somewhat limit Maric's touches on the block we will be in the game until the end. As many have said before if Maric scores 35 it may get ugly.

If they do take charge, and lead by example I think we have an excellent chance to take down the Huskers, even with Wes on the bench. If they can keep the younger guys like Sean, Cam Lee, Cory, and Brackins focused, I think we will see an excellent team effort and a W in Lincoln.

Who do you think will step up on Saturday?

It has to be Clark. I really think he's the heart of this team, and his seniority keeps him calm under pressure. So if I had to name one person to lead ISU to victory, Saturday, I'd say Clark.

But really, I think we're going to win through coaching. The second half comeback against Colorado showed that ISU can beat an inferior opponent by running well designed plays and sticking to a gameplan. If the younger guys don't get rattled against Nebraska, the Cyclones have a good chance to win in Lincoln.

The best way to stop Maric is to get him on the bench (foul trouble). I'm sure the gameplan will be to get it inside early and often to Jiri and Craig and make Maric guard people. I think this should always be our offensive emphasis, but it is magnified with Wes being out and with the need to get Maric in foul trouble. Expect a lot of post touches and not at many 3-point launches Saturday.

Hopefully Craig can do what he did at OSU earlier this year. If he gets 20 we are VERY solid.

Class 4th post. ;)

I hope Jiri does. He has had good games against Maric in the past and he needs to come out fired up.

Can Wes lead us to the Denslow Cup?

I dunno if Wes is as good of leader as Coop... That is a tough question to answer... The way I see it, as long as McDermott doesn't get a hotdog late in the game, and we start doing the RA RA RA in our fight song, and Otzelberger or Prioleau don't join in and hit McD's arm, we should atleast out-coach the Huskers... haha

Nice Baseketball references!

Wes may or may not be able to step on the court tomorrow. I would really hope that we can beat the Ferries without him, and keep him rested.
