MLB: White Sox Acquire Edwin Jackson

I highly doubt Jackson stays on the South Side.

Yeah...you would think that wouldn't you? Is Edwin Jackson at $8+ million that much better than a Dan Hudson at the minimum? I guess I shouldn't worry about the money since it isn't mine to be concerned with...but it does make me wonder what they see from Jackson to think this way?

KW must really want Adam Dunn to trade for Edwin Jackson. I suppose that I could be ok with this but its got to be a power move to get Dunn. Even if they don't though, Jackson is still better than an unproven rookie who couldn't find it while he was up the last few weeks.

This is true. And obviously the Peavy injury has made the White Sox nervous about that 5th spot...if another starter went down...the White Sox would have some serious problems! But that might be the case for most teams in MLB.

White Sox are reaching on this one. Jackson is great if you like guys that throw 100 pitches by the 5th inning every night out.

Apparently Don Cooper wants Edwin and sees him as a Contreras/Thornton type project. Regardless, Hudson plus a prospect is a huge overpay for what cannot be described as anything but a project. We already had a project in Hudson -- except he was under control for cheap for 6 years.

Going to be seriously unhappy if this is the only move.

I am not sure what to think really? It does seem like a reach if only because of the money due to Jackson. But on the other hand, the White Sox have been successful with "re-treads", guys who have really good stuff but have never been able to control it (Floyd, Thorton). At this point KW should be thinking about this season first...then next season. Jackson (if the White Sox keep him) could be a nice part of both seasons. If they do flip Jackson in the next 24 hours...then we won't even remember him being a White Sox!

How quickly I forget other projects...they had success turning Contreras around and he was 50 years older than Jackson is (kidding but only slightly)!

Kenny won us fans a world series 5 years ago, have a little faith, at least they're buying instead of selling like everyone thought they would about a month ago.

KW is a wheeler-and-dealer, I guarantee he's not done.

it's called selling your product, make him sound better to potential trade suitors.

Understood. They also need to make it look like they want him if they unfortunately get stuck wtih him.

Agree with this. I think KW felt that he needed to acquire Jackson in an effort to get Dunn...but if he doesn't get Dunn and Jackson remains on the team then KW can say his goal was to upgrade the rotation by acquiring a veteran starter. Which at this point is what he did...
