NFL: What's up with the Cowboys' scoreboard?

I'd imagine viewing angles and site distances played a pretty big factor into at what height that thing was hung.

The picture quality on that thing is insane though. The image looks like its being rendered by FOX not actually being displayed on the screen in the actual stadium.

They said several punts hit it during warm ups early in the telecasts. It's going to be a problem. I can't believe they didn't account for this in the design. Or maybe JJ just doesn't care as long he gets the biggest scoreboard trophy.

I'll be checking out sportcenter to see this. Thats an expensive target. I'm sure it can be raised.

I would assume the NFL is already making calls to have it evaluated and raised. They won't let something as stupid as an oversized video board interrupt a game, especially at one of the highest profile venues in the world.

It amazes me that you can spend a billion dollars on a stadium and screw up things like this. With having too low of a scoreboard here, and having obstructed views in new Yankee Stadium. How do you screw that stuff up??

I've never been one to defend "America's Team" but I'd be willing to bet that punts hitting the scoreboard was never even considered as a possibility. I'm sure it's on some sort of pully system, just raise it up.

how many punts hit it? I only saw the one...

Yeah, I think one, but the punt after that was said to be higher than scoreboard level as well, but was kicked at an angle and missed it. Definitely could be a game changer, and I agree that it will be changed. I just can't imagine that someone didn't think about that when they were setting it up.

What was with the lighting in that place last night, thought I was watching the 1970s Lions. The grass was grey, the unis looked grey and the picture quality looked like they were using the cheap cameras. I am usually not a fan of the Metrodome but that production came off as colorful were the Dallas job was dull.

The glass ceiling might have something to do with it but I hope they get it figured out if we are going to play Big 12 championship games there.

This scoreboard could be a huge homefield advantage for the Boys? If the other teams kicker knows it can be hit, it could play with his mind a little and alter the kick. I would also think picking up the ball would be difficult. I think JJ had this planned all along. How Bout Them Cowboys

Then an architect or engineer should be fired. It's their job.

Just wait until a punt gets blocked after re-punting a punt that hits it. People will go ballistic.

:biglaugh::biglaugh:This will be the best year on record. Guess where Superbowl XLV is "Cowboys". This stadium will be the biggest home field advantage in the NFL. Opposing kickers and punters will be focusing on the big board soooo much thier hang time will be off and our good friend Felix "the cat" Jones will be taking it to thehouse. :biglaugh::biglaugh:

The only way the cowboys will be in the super bowl will be during the halftime show as the crowd for the band.
