If the College Sports Genie (I'm assuming that's a real thing) said they could guarantee one thing (not excluding the others as possibilities) for the basketball team, which would you choose?

Regular Season Big XII Champs
Big XII Tourney Champs
Reach the Elite 8 in the NCAAs
 
I don't think it's even a question. The biggest benefit to the program, creating the most visibility to both fans and recruits, would be the NCAA Tournament run. Plus, it would be fun as hell to watch. :wink:
 
Big XII champs over all. I think getting through the Big XII as outright champs, the others would set themselves up as good possibilities without the guarantee. Plus, I think the Big XII tournament champs and Elite 8 are actually not quite as difficult a task, depending on the draw, as being outright Conference champions.

Don't get me wrong, going deep in the NCAA is most important, but as I said, I just think being Conference champs would almost set us up for an easier road on the other two.
 
Elite 8. However, Big 12 regular season champs is tempting. We win the big 12, we have a 2 seed at worst which should mean an Elite 8 run, however we all know that isn't the case... you all know why, doesn't need mentioned.
 
It would be nice to displace KU frm the regular season monopoly, but still...elite 8....that's just 3wins from a national championship
 
Id guarantee Big 12 Reg Season Champs, just because if ISU can pull that off, the other two are going to be very achievable.

Now if I only got to choose one, which is how I think most are treating this, Id take the Elite 8 run.
 
I could be sold on the Elite 8 run, but I voted for Big 12 champ. I think you could argue that ending KU's stranglehold on the conference would be a more notable accomplishment than getting hot for 3 games in the tourney. It's by far the most difficult option of the 3 to achieve. And you have to imagine we'd be set up to make a nice tourney run anyway if we pulled it off.

Big 12 tourney is easily the least of those three options.
