Now that the 2013 baseball season is done. What do you think will be Ron Gardenhire's fate which will be learned by tomorrow.

1. He will manage the Twins in 2014.
2. He will be fired but manage another MLB team in 2014.
3. He will be reassigned in the Twins organization.
4. He will be fired and manage a minor league team
5. He will be fired and be a position coach in MLB.

His fate will not be good. He is hoping he is not traded to manage the Cubs or Houston.

Somewhere else.

But it doesn't matter until they actually find/trade/develop/sign actually competent SPs.

He'll probably do ok with a change of scenery, where he hasn't established a hierarchy of "Gardy's guys" like he did in Minnesota, which I think led, at least partly, to his undoing.

Gardenhire shouldnt go anywhere. It isnt his fault the GM hasnt gotten him any significant pitching help for basically three seasons, or added any key pieces through trades that would help them contend in the central. He's a good manager and any replacement wouldnt be an upgrade IMO.

I believe Gardy will not be fired but he will not be managing in 2014. Look how many losing seasons the Twins had under Tom Kelly and was not fired until he stepped down in 2001. Gardy will stay with Twins in some capacity (front office)

Yeah, just changing the manager isn't going to fix things, but it's time. His message is stale, there's a whole new wave of players on the verge of moving up.

And tell me, what is it, exactly, that makes Gardy such a commodity?

Strategy? No. Ignores simple statistical strategy like platoons, and as for advanced stats, well that ignorance extends into the F/O as well.

I think he's an OK guy to steer an already sailing (winning) ship.
But his strategy I find myself disagreeing with more often than not, and I don't know that he's a great option with his old-school attitudes and sometimes stand-offish attitude with certain players to be the guy to try and put the young team together and go from worst to first.

"Gardy, can you please step off the bus to talk to the admin. We have something to tell you."

Well it looks like he's getting another 2-year deal. Somewhat disappointing, IMO.

They need a shake-up somewhere in the org. Everything, all hires seem to be "in the family" isolated from outside thought. Need unique thought/voices.

I agree, I love Gardy but didn't see that one coming
