What We Spend vs.The Results and Why Its Important

I guess I don't see the connection with the first link, but the second one is an interesting read.
Amount spent on recruiting doesn't tell you much.

We spend the money to be a top 50 program. The results of most ISU sports support the money spent. Football generates all most all of our athletic department revenue. Near future football revenues could be in trouble based on donations levels, ticket sales, advertising sponsorships and planned expenditures. Listening to the postgame "Locker Room" show on the radio, it is obvious that the those concerns are mounting. Our announcers went out of their way to "Thank" our sponsors, knowing that the product on display doesn't support their investment. Our coaches are paid well, and because of that, JP must hold our football staff to tough standards. If he does not, we will have allot more to complain about on this site!

It was a step backward at KU, much worse than OU. Equal talent, difference in coaching.

KF salary is better deal than Paul at this point per win.

Texas surprised me on that map. I know they have two NFL teams but I figured there would be more love for the 5 major schools

Also according to that map, only 25% of Polk County, 28% of Johnson County, and 33% of Story county are college fans. hmm....

We also have the lowest amount of money through donors despite being the 3rd biggest school in the big 12.

The account spent on recruiting is a greater reflection on the amount of local available talent than a barometer of how good of talent we think should be coming to ISU.

Facebook 'like' maps are used way to much. They don't actually tell you much of anything. For example - I like Iowa State Athletics on Facebook, but not Iowa State Football. So I wouldn't count on this as a college football fan.

This Ive never fully understood. I thought our donations would be higher.

My guess is they type of undergraduate and graduate majors plays a pretty big role in alumni donations. ISU doesn't have a medical or law school. It didn't really have much of a under grad business program until the mid 1980's and doesn't churn out large numbers of MBA students even today.

Without having read the articles, I'd have to assume that we are the 3rd biggest school by current enrollment. But those in the best position to be big donors were in school 20+ years ago. I wonder how our 1995 enrollment compares to the other conference schools?

Part of that has to do with being bad at football so long. The 80s and part of the 90s wasn't good so it made it hard to turn that group of students in to ISU football fans.

The other part is ISU may have a lot of donors but they are lower level donors. We don't have many high giving donors.

Facility Upgrades... Coaches Contracts... Fan Support... Money is/has been committed!!! Results shown by all our sports?

You do realize the reason that the recruiting budget is as high as it is, is because we don't have a great instate pool of talent. And of course the best of that talent has grown up loving our rivals to the East. This is actually another reason why this is a tough tough job.

All of the recruiting requires extensive travel, hence higher dollars. That won't change regardless of the coach, and it isn't a sign of a true commitmente to the program.

Second, I am not sure whose troll account this is, but you are still not acknowledging that this very recent surge of money being spent on the football program does not cover the decades of neglect, and lack of support and revenue.

And you also ignored the idea of what your standard average kid in one of the places we recruit, Tx, and Fl, has when they first receive letters from Iowa State.

Other than that, great job trying to excuse the lack of fundemental support that all of our peers get
