What if Fort Peck Dam fails?

Well...the water is still very high, so I would assume if this is/was a possibility, it could still happen any day.

Just my opinion, but I would put the risk of Fort Peck failing a little behind the earth being struck by a huge asteroid, or the Yellowstone caldera blowing.
First off. The Yellowstone River dumps into the Missouri downstream from Fort Peck. Of all the potential snowpack in the Missouri River basin, approximately 55% drains into the Missouri (above Fort Peck), and 45% drains into the Yellowstone. Most of the heavy rains that Montana had in later half of May and early June drained into the Yellowstone. Some heavy rains did drain into the Mussellshell which does drain into the Missouri (above Fort Peck).
One real danger, at Fort Peck, is that the lake (created) goes back to the southwest for nearly 40 miles. Strong winds out of the SW have produced 6 foot waves up in the vicinity of the dam structure. You do not want to be in a boat when that happens.
As you might assume, I used to live and work in the area.
