Just curious what holiday traditions everyone has?

Growing up our family didn't have many traditions but one we did have a was potato soup for supper on Christmas Eve which originated in our family during the Great Depression, from what I've been told. I continued this with my family (on the stove at the moment.)

New Years we don't have one.

What are some other traditions out there?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

We always have chili and cornbread for dinner on Christmas Eve before going to church. We'll watch A Christmas Story on TNT/TBS after church, then on Christmas morning we have cinnamon and orange rolls while opening gifts. Been this way for at least the last 15 years (maybe less the Christmast story movie thing).

We are just about to sit down to our chili and cornbread right now.

chili on Christmas eve..oh and wine. Also watch It's a Wonderful Life. Christmas day, since it's just me I've rented a few movies...oh and more wine. My son and grandson will arrive on the 27th and we'll be having lobster tails, grilled shrimp and prime rib.

Each New Year's Eve includes a lobster tail to start the new year...oh and lots of champagne. As for New Years Day a couple of girls I know insist that I have black eyed peas which represent good luck for the upcoming year. Must be a Southern thing.
