With all the optimism, I'm curious what people are looking forward to the most. Personally, for this season it is a mix between bball and wrestling. Football should be fun, but I'm not sure this will be a good yr.

Football Football Football, we could win the national championship in basketball and I would still love football more.

It's a tossup between basketball and the last Harry Potter.

I voted football, but I'm much more optimistic about bball. If anyone votes for Harry Potter, their account should be banned.

What? no votes for wrestling after coming in second last yr??? Is the season just too far away or is it that marginal compared to the other big 2?

I just voted for wrestling -- before reading your comments, even! I'm a bigger fan of football and basketball, but I have the most optimism -- and higher expectations -- for the upcoming Cyclone wrestling season. Cael has the wrestlers poised as a legitimate national championship front-runner. It's exciting to see the program in its best shape in 20 years! :yes4lo:

I am excited for what the wrestling team will do, but it is much harder to follow than football or basketball in part because of media coverage. I voted for basketball, but football is always exciting also.

Looking forward to Men's basketball, because I think that the talent upgrades, although young, give us an opportunity to be competitive.

**** Harry Potter, never been a fan, never will.

Excited for Gene Chizik era to begin, and happy the Dan McCarney era of mediocrity in performance, and expectations, is over.

Haven't picked a candidate yet so not sure on presidential election. Just glad the George Bush era of mediocrity in performance, and expectations, is over.

Am interested in seeing what Cael does for an encore.

Probably, football because of the financial implications of a good team.

Just anything to watch and follow execpt golf and MLB. Unless you need a nap.:dull8ay:

What was wrong with the Dan McCarney era?
Oh please, let's not provoke darts into yet another one of his frothing off-topic tirades.

I voted for football for two reasons. One: I love it more than any other sport out there, no matter how good or bad we will ever do. That will always be true for me. Two: I don't see football season as coinciding with basketball and wrestling season. Yes, there is a bit of overlap late in the semester, but that hardly counts in my book. If you want something to compete with football, I'd say throw volleyball on that list. Our girls are dang good, and they'll be making a pretty good run for the conference title this fall. It's us or Nebraska, and we almost beat #1 Nebraska last year.

I don't understand basketball or wrestling at all, but I go ahead and get excited for them because everyone else is, and because I like cheering for my teams.

I'm looking forward to reading the new Harry Potter, but I'm not super excited about it.

I'm not excited in the slightest about the presidential election. Right now, everyone seems like a giant goober.

It is wrestling. Not many people really care about it, it is like hockey, there are a few fans that love it (me) and then 98% of the population could care less.

Fun question, but its too broad for me. As far as reading/movies go, the HP book and movie are what I'm most excited about. As for sports, I simply cannot wait for football season any longer!

Has anyone else seen the South Park episode where Cartmen can't wait for the Nintendo Wii any longer so he freezes himself for 3 weeks until it comes out? I wish I could do that for football season sometimes!

What was wrong with the Dan McCarney era?

:rolleyes5cz:

Oh, that's right, I forgot. Iowa State never fielded a football team before 1995, it was a mere intramural sport (or at least it was funded like that).

My bad, let's all thank Coach McCarney for allowing us to make him a multimillionaire, for beating all of those tough teams in 1AA and the MAC, and the Hawks, oh those great Hawk teams that we beat. Because, at the end of the day, Dan, and only Dan, could have done the job that he did here, of limiting expectations, and making excuses for not being successful.

Thanks Dan.

To you Cy in CO to the drama guy (???), I am sorry that you thought that what you saw was good.
