What Are You Eating?

We have what are you… threads for everything else and I needed to share something.

In HI right now and found these little *******. They’re simple freeze dried skittles (even have the S on them). OMG are they the most addictive thing I’ve ever had.

Pfft this is just a way to humble brag that you're in Hawaii. Nice way to do it though. Congrats!

Nah, I’d actually rather be just about anywhere else. Absolute worst place to go with Parkinson’s.

Didn’t realize it but even with SPF 80 and only being in the sun for 15 minutes, I have blisters and a rash head to toe. Med makes for ultra photosensitivity so haven’t been able to do a lot of the things with the family. And this was our big vaca knowing my issues will only get worse.

Without balance even with always using my cane, everything is a *****. Yesterday took a tumble bouncing off trees and rocks on an 18 foot near cliff from losing balance when trying to take a pic.

We tried to do snorkeling today but my head started to instantly blister and since I have absolutely no energy, was back on the boat alone within 3 mins and for 2 hrs.

I suspect you already know, but that brine is liquid gold when it comes to grilling/smoking meats. Pork shoulder, chicken drumsticks, shrimp, turkey, etc.

I take a couple pounds of boneless chicken thighs and throw them in a gallon sized Ziploc bag with the leftover brine from a jar of pickles, and maybe a little water to dilute it. Make sure I get as much air out of the bag as possible, and let it sit in the fridge for at least 6 hours. (Even better if you can do it overnight)

Then, drain it and apply whatever rub I have on hand, and hit the grill. Incredibly flavorful, and a great way to meal prep for the week.
I've heard that Chick-Fil-A uses pickle juice too but don't know if there's any true to that or not. Maybe that's why the line of cars in their drive-thru are backed clear out in the street here in NW Arkansas. Do you use sweet pickle or dill pickle or either/or?

He uses dill! (We are not a sweet pickle house, for some reason.) It legitimately is the best chicken.

Like @Al_4_State mentioned in his house, we similarly do a lot of mustard-based sauces and vinegar-y stuff. Carolina barbecue sauce is the best!

Thanks Angie! I'm going to have to give this dill marinade a shot. We are also very vinegar-y based as well. A lot of that is due to the wife being Filipino as they use some sort of spice vinegar in a lot of their foods.
