I know it seems like an impossibility, but

1. Mac loves ISU and is a good defensive coach
2. Bring in a HC coach with good recruiting and offense
3. Current players would be happy
4. Could bring in great recruits with combined new coach and Mac.
5. If Mac would be DC at U of Miami, why not ISU?
6. Most wanted Mac gone as Head Coach, but would they accept him as DC?

Is this too much of a stretch?

Way to much of a stretch. What if someone came to you at your job and ask you to be below the new guy and take a huge paycut.

why the pay cut? He is making $225K for the next 3 years to be DC. Just kidding...it wont happen, he will go make $600K somewhere else as HC

Yeah, I think this one is a very big stretch. It's not going to happen, at least not in the immediate time frame.

If Dan ever returns, and that is a BIG if, it would be a long time down the road after he finishes coaching. I think it would be as an adminstrative position or AD if he was qualified and wanted the job (and of course it was available).

I realize it maybe a pipedream, but it depends on where you are in your career, family, and financial freedom in life.

I'm not saying Dan is anywhere near retiring, but many people take lesser paying jobs toward the end of their career for life balance and happiness reasons.

Maybe a big stretch, but was just a thought. I thought Dan needed to go, but somehow I wish he could stay as well. I actually think he would be a great DC and recruiter.

Thats kinda how I feel as well, unfortunately I think its only going to be a dream...

It is not fair to Dan, the current players or the new coach to have the former HC still on as a coord. The only benefits would be to have a familiar face for the recruits. Other than that it poses more problems than benefits.

It would be too ackward for the current players and could form quite a rift. Although I do think he'll be a good one somewhere.

It is of course I stretch but I thought the dsame thing. McC has been a offensive coach and a defensive coach. We all like McC the person, but we like winning most. Yet he failed to attract dynamic enough recruiting assistants to bail him out the last three years. We had no depth when losses were incurred and we got run into the ground. We have ten really good players and some of those we could not keep on the field. Yet I could see him as a $300k defensive coordinator coach for now with Skaldany as $200k backfield coach if the HC comes for $700k (Mark Farley?).

It is hard to pull recruited people to Ames or to even Manhattan. Boulder is easy. Even Lincoln had a lot of people cancel visits for the morining games at 11:00. They do not have the world's best airpoirt in Lincoln. Getting a better bowl stadium will really help recruiting.

We need high energy to motivate the current players.
