I'm a Longhorn who watched the game on TV.

Your team and coaches played brilliantly and left no question as to who was the better team on the field Saturday. The Cyclones also conducted themselves very well in victory, further compliments to your coach and players.

They showed the clip of your locker room after last year's Nebraska game, it still gives me goose bumps. I was reminded of our own unlikely wins against Nebraska when the Big XII got started. Among the great things about college football is the whole "any given Saturday" cliche.

Best of luck to you the rest of the season.

Thanks for the congrats. If Texas has a down year or two, do you think there'll be some fans who will want to leave for "greener" pastures much like Nebraska is doing? I sure hope not, but it is a thought that entered my mind.

I really don't know. If we have a couple of down years, will the greener pastures want Texas as much as they do now?

We have a lot invested with long standing opponents like A&M, Tech, and Oklahoma. With the northern teams improving, I'd say that makes keeping the conference together a more attractive option. Missouri is tearing it up, Kansas had their moment in the spotlight and look what the Cyclones are doing. I'll miss playing Nebraska.

But I don't really have any special knowledge about what Texas will do. If we have a couple of down years, we'll find ourselves looking for the right coach to take over for Brown and you never know for sure what will happen with a new coach.

Sorry this may come off as rude and bitter...

The greener pastures will always want Texas. Why?? You guys print your own flipping money. Your athletic budget is 3X that of ISU. You have multiple National Championships. You have a large population base. It's all about money. Who has the money and how much money you can bring to a conference.

You can build anything you want to attract kids... You will get anyone you want 95% of the time and when you don't, well you find a kid just as good. It's complete BS....

You guys are what is wrong with COLLEGE SPORTS.

I guess on the positive side of things you guys haven't been caught paying players like USC. Then again, you guys do spend as much as the New York Yankees each season. Seems fair huh???

And we just beat that team with the UNFAIR advantages. Why focus on that though huh? Quit whining. ISU has never done anything to prove they deserve to have those things. Our fanbase doesn't donate nearly the amount they do. Don't ***** about them because your jealous. Our fanbase is a large part of the money problem.

Yeah we beat them and it's a flipping upset when we do. Even though we beat them outright and it was not a fluke. I want to get to a point where it isn't an upset. That unfair advantage is the reason we almost went homeless this summer when the Big (Texas Conference) 12 imploded.

Then some Longhorn fan comes here acting humble... My ***... "Well if Texas is down maybe every conference won't want us and that is good for the Big 12." BS... I don't buy into what this guy is saying.

I loved this win. I loved every second of it. It was Texas. The team that flirted with every conference on EARTH because it wanted to ***** itself out to the highest bidder.

Whining yes... Why not.

And yes our fanbase is basically the problem why we have no money. Doesn't help when we only had 25 plus years of losing and another school to our east was having success. The only fans we basically have are graduates of ISU. Alot of which move out of the state for high paying jobs and basically forget about ISU football and donating money. Our two biggest donors that we bank on are not even ISU alumns. That should tell you something.

I wanna see this change. I wanna see us have 1/2 of Texas' money and not 1/3 of it.

But I'm not kissing some Longhorn fan's *** because he came over here and said good game. **** that.

Thanks man. Had a blast in Austin and the UT fans were amazing. The southern hospitality shown to us even after a Texas loss was great and made my weekend. The game was just extra on top. Best of luck the rest of the year.

Been to aTm game last year and Texas game this year and in 2002. Great fans at both. The people are absolutely wonderful. Texas friendly everywhere. They are not what is wrong with college athletics. They are as knowledgeable and cordial as can be. Many fans congratuled us.

Do they have an advantage. For sure. But you know what? They have to play us too. And it sure is sweet when we win.

I hope we stay in a conference with the Texas schools. Great opponents and wonderful people. And Texas is fertile recruiting ground for us, and our Texas guys are great, same as their families. I look forward to playing down there for years to come.

bellzisu,
You won. Enjoy it.

Further, you guys are getting some of the money generated by the big programs like Texas by being in a conference with those big programs. As far as beating Texas or Oklahoma, you were close to beating us the first time the Longhorns came to Ames and you had Rosenfels. Hell of a game.

I don't go looking for other teams boards to post on. In fact, this is the only time I've bothered. I hated losing, I hated how Texas played and was coached, and I am angry about where the program is. On the other hand, you shouldn't have someone on your schedule that can never ever beat you. One of the pleasures of not being a big dog program comes on those days when you eat the big dog. You did it last year and again this year.

Enjoy that. It wasn't a fluke. Your guys, a few of them Texans, came to Austin and won the day. The way the Cyclones did it and the way they carried themselves while doing it earned my admiration. So here I came to share the moment.

I love college football. It will never be equitable, but there is always that chance.

Again, good luck the rest of the season. Glad so many of you enjoyed Austin and the Longhorn fans. Hook 'em!
