Week Three starts tonight with the Texans @ NE. Even down to their third string rookie QB, I like the Pats. I suspect the Texans are paper tigers. They've beaten a crappy Bears team and a possibly crappy Chiefs team at home. Big "prove it" chance for them tonight.

Sounds like the Panthers - Vikes game will go on as planned in Charlotte on Sunday. There were rumors this morning that the game might get moved due to safety concerns, but just a little while ago the league made an official statement that the game will be played as scheduled.

Carolina is not being seen in a good light recently, with all the LGBT stuff getting events moved, the riots due to the police shootings, etc. I really like that area of the country, but they've had a tough few months.

I agree, I think NE will pull it off tonight, but it will be a close game.

I don't want to send this thread to the cave, but yeah, the state of NC has seen better days. I'll leave it at that.

Yeah, sorry, wasn't my intention. It was just my first thought when I read that article this morning. But yes, they have. As far as that game goes, I think it is safe to say the Vikings D will have to have an unbelievable performance to pull this game out in Charlotte.

I think the defense is going to have to carry them the rest of the season. I'm not totally buying what we saw last weekend as the real Sam Bradford. Not yet, anyway.

Vikings got a real tough matchup here. Carolina's D doesn't have to worry about AP (which may be both good and bad). Viking's D has a huge worry about Newton. It's going to be a battle of the better defense winning the game; I have to imagine that the Panthers and going to focus on shutting down Bradford's ability to throw, and/or send frequent pressure. The opposite is true for Minnesota -- their goal will be to focus sharply on preventing Newton from running (particularly with Stewart out) and force him to win over the air. It will either be really fun to watch, or really, really boring to watch -- not sure which.

completely agree. I was saying this to my buddy yesterday. For some reason this season I am not stressing out about the AP injury, or any of our injuries really. In years past, I felt when we were contending to make the playoffs we always got an injury that made me panic and abandon hope. But for some reason this year I am not worried after these few injuries. Yeah, it sucks, but I think this defense is solid enough to keep us in enough games for us to win. I really think it is a top 3 defense in the league. I agree with you here on Sam Bradford, there is no reason anybody should expect him to play as efficient as he did against GB game-in and game-out. But I think he has the arm strength that could allow our offense to have some big drives. He will turn the ball over more, but I think our defense is up to the task of keeping the game close.

I'd be more worried about the loss of Kalil at LT. Not because he was an all pro tackle by any stretch, but just because it's easier to find serviceable running backs than it is to find serviceable offensive linemen.

I see on ESPN that the Vikes will be without Sharrif Floyd again this week after surgery to clean up some cartilage in his knee.

You could be right, but I really thought Kalil was a liability the first two games of this season. Not saying Clemmings is better, but Kalil wasn't showing me anything to be torn-up over his injury. Yeah, I hope Sharrif comes back stronger and better than ever, rather than rushing him back.

Interesting to see 538's football model has New England as a big favorite but the Vegas line is either a pick 'em or Houston -1. If you are into this sort of analytics then you should drop some money on the Patriots.

The Vikes beat Carolina in 2014 and it's possible to do it again. I'm not picking us to win but hopefully it's a good game.

Freaking Patriots...going to win with their 3rd stringer.

16-0

No way. Still a long way to go in this one, or someone will get them. They have road trips to Pittsburgh and Denver plus home games against Cincy and Baltimore.

Ok, so now we know the Pats are really good and the Texans' 2-0 start was a mirage. The AFC South is the early leader for worst division in the NFL.
