So I had an offer out of the blue this morning to sell a domain I currently own. They contacted me directly via email. It's an unused domain I'm willing to sell as I was holding it as a spelling variant for my business domain. Not quite sure how to sell it, and definitely unsure of it's value.

From google stalking, I think it's a small business that wants it. Their business is not related to mine in any way, and they would be in different geographic location, so I think I'm mostly covered.

Any ideas on how much I should ask for?

I watch Pawn Stars and Hardcore Pawn, so I'd consider myself a professional at this.

Ask them what they're willing to pay. Increase that by 75%. Never 100%, that just makes you look like a ******.

Never go below 50% more of what they originally asked for.

So, if they ask for $100, say you want $175. Never go below $150.

Make 'em anty up.

PS, I know nothing about selling domains.

assuming you also own a small business, what would you be willing to pay for your ideal domain name if someone else already had it?

I buy and sell domains all the time (for work). I don't even talk to people unless it is over $750 or $1000. It is just not worth all the hassle.

If you want, you can PM me and I can help you out. I have sold many domain names and websites. I don't necessarily agree with the over $750 rule that Brianhos said but you can obviously ask for more because they requested it.

I can show you how to do it safely too. (Domain Escrow)
