ISU fans are 2nd only to Virginia Tech in ESPN's CFB panic rating. (No ranking for basketball ... but if there was we'd prolly be right up there.)

Perhaps a high panic rating is the flip side of being "fanatics" ... but IMO it would be good to see our panic rating drop a bit.

Acording to ESPN, panic rating is:

... we noticed that some programs' fans turn negative really quickly during close games, in a way that is not in line with their team's chances to win the game. As a result, we combined in-game win probability and in-game Twitter sentiment to create a "Panic Factor."​

To be fair, they should analyze the % of winning likelihood of some ISU games going into the last few series and see how quickly it changed to 100% win for the opponent. The culture has changed and all, but that's some high level fan-trauma.

2015 KSU and 2016 @ Okie State are just two examples.

Pretty sure both of those games had ISU at well over 90% chance to win very late.

Basketball's a different story. There's been years when I couldn't watch the game but followed the game thread, and if you followed some posters you'd think ISU were down 20, and I check the score, and ISU's up 7 in an away game, haha.

Drake game last year and any time we play KSU is a panic marathon. I think it goes down a bit this year. I feel like I was way more relaxed last year compared to 2 years ago which says a lot.

No they aren't. There have been times I can't watch/listen to the game and will be following the game thread. Reading it you'd think we're down 2 TDs or 15 points in basketball. Go over to ESPN to see the score and we'll have the lead.

Second, we have a real history of pissing away games. We also have apology letters from the Big 12 for getting f@cked over.

These are real things. I can start a thread on games we pissed away if you'd like.

If these things manifest themselves as "panic" so be it. But it comes from somewhere real.
