IOWA STATE GAME NOTES

MEDIA CENTER

Iowa State plays its third-straight road game on Saturday as the Cyclones take on No. 24 West Virginia in Morgantown. When the Mountaineers came to Hilton Coliseum earlier this month, ISU used a 38-9 second half run to take down WVU, 74-64.

It's been a busy couple of weeks and I've missed the live telecast(s) of the last two WBB games. As I am superstitious, I haven't done my part and need to get back into the nice roll we had going before the trip to TTU. The youngsters have seen the WVU press before so they know they can handle it, we're strong with the ball all day and eek out an upset in Morgantown, 61-60.

I wonder if WVU will have a better plan in this game than jacking up 43 threes? In Ames they looked like one of those one dimensional pressing teams we play in NC but with slightly better players. The size of Texas and ISU forced them do something they aren't good at. We'll see if they repeat that lay bricks from three game or have a better percentage. Or try and get into the paint for something better, maybe even get some fouls on us. They were 3-19 in the 2nd half in Ames. If they hit 30% of those it's a one possession game.

If we own the paint again on both ends and handle the press with no more than 20 TO's we should win this again. We WILL turn it over, everyone does versus them. We are averaging 17 TO's so 20 won't be bad. Wildcard is road game and if we whither under the pressure if every call doesn't go our way.

Bristow gets the start for us. Her play has really gotten better. Sisters lead 12-9 with 5 left in the 1st after a Natabou 2.

Something looks strange about the telecast. Either the lighting or the angle of the camera or both.

Every long pass we make there is a fake first and WVU has time to shift and steal it. Just messy ball control. Outscored 7-0 at end of quarter and if WVU hadn’t had a bunch of mistakes it could have been far worse.

Shocked how well we are doing out there. I figured with how we played last time with being on the road this was going to be rough game to stay close enough to have a chance.
