Hoping for a bounce back. South Dakota game was just a lot of weird, let's close the door on that and get a win today.

Looking at what is going on not good in the Big 12, we may need a solid noncon for tourney selection/placement. What happened to the Big 12 being a premiere WBB league?

Tech as a program just tanked and the formerly reliable Sooners and Cyclones have not been very good for a few years. Until someone steps up it's just Baylor and Texas. Same thing happened in volleyball with same schools on top of a weak secondary eight.

Reactions: Tornado man
Where: Hilton Coliseum - Ames, Iowa
When: Sunday Dec. 2 at 2 p.m.
Projected Starting Lineup: Bridget Carleton, Meredith Burkhall, Alexa Middleton, Madison Wise, Ashley Joens
Radio: Cyclone Radio Network/Learfield
Talent: Brent Blum & Molly Parrott
TV: Cyclones.tv

Same line-up. Interesting is the defensive numbers, in this admittedly young season -

  • The Cyclones have started the season strong on the defensive end, ranking 19th nationally in field-goal percentage defense, holding opponents to just 32.2 percent from the floor. ISU also ranks 12th nationally in defensive rebounds per game, with 31.0. Carleton leads ISU and ranks eighth nationally with 9.0 defensive rebounds per game. In addition, ISU is averaging 5.3 blocked shots per game, which ranks 20th nationally. Carleton ranks 18th in the country with 2.5 blocks per game.
FWIW - RealtimeRPI favors us by 20 and gives ISU an 88% chance of winning.

Big XII is 3rd in Realtime behind ACC and Pac12. Our record is 50-10.

That's a pretty good, short and sweet summary!

Finally, less than 2 min into the second half and the timeout is NOT called by ISU. Good ball movement and scoring.

And Bridget now 10th on all-time scoring list!

Yup, typo for me on that...knew it was 39. 70 points between the two teams. yikes!
I was watching and thought both teams just couldn't miss for awhile. We were scoring almost every possession but so were Arky.

Certainly nothing to nitpick in this game. This was more suited to our style as we look a lot better when we aren't playing teams that focus first on defense. I feel better about the upcoming game at Iowa. Don't think they are all that great on defense* and maybe Scott, Burkhall and Carleton can grab some of the rebounds that Gustafson usually grabs. Still bummed there is no TV for it.

* Haven't seen them that much, mostly thinking back to the game at Williams last winter against the Gophers when they just couldn't get a stop.

I was at the Frank Irwin Center in Austin today to watch TX vs MST. TX is like a wounded warrior right now. Very inept. I could get the ISU game on CY TV most of the time. What I saw was very impressive. Good come back. After that game I went to a sports bar with some friends and we watched UConn beat up on ND.. I think the Huskies have the best starting 5 in the nation. Now we're still here watching BU beat up on SC,, There's not going to be anything left to eat or drink in here by the time we leave.

And that freshman guard, Christyn Williams, for UCONN showed why she was the #1 recruit for 2018. Wow. And nice personality in the post-game on court interview to.

What an ugly game though. Hardly any substitions and players were dragging I usually love to watch UConns ball movement, but they were doing a ton of one on one off the dribble. I cracked up when Shepard got a layup on fast break, and announcers commented on how much her fitness improved to run the floor, when in fact she hadn't gotten all the way back on defense yet....
