IOWA STATE GAME NOTES

From Okstate.com.

What 2 Watch 4
• Oklahoma State will get its Big 12 slate underway when it hosts Iowa State at 2 p.m. on Saturday inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
• The Cowgirls will be looking to bounce back from a 70-63 loss in their last outing against Oregon. The setback snapped OSU's five-game winning streak.
• The Cowgirls are 6-0 at home this season and 20-3 overall inside Gallagher-Iba Arena under head coach Jacie Hoyt.
Quincy Noble ranks 63rd nationally among current active leaders with her 1,481 career points.
Lior Garzon enters the event with 108 treys as a Cowgirl. She is two treys away from tying for eighth and three away from the No. 7 spot on the school's all-tine list.
Stailee Heard currently ranks 19th nationally in field-goal percentage at 60.5 percent.
• Heard is currently averaging 15.3 points per game. Clinette Jordan's 13.9 points per game in 1985-86 represents the best scoring average by a Cowgirl rookie in program history.
• The Cowgirl rookie was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week for the second time this season on Dec. 26 after her performance during OSU's two games at the Trailblazer Classic in St. George, Utah.
Hannah Gusters has eclipsed the 20-point mark in two of her three contests as a Cowgirl, including a career-high 27 points at Utah Tech.
Chandler Prater will miss the remainder of the season due to an injury suffered against Ohio State.
• On two occasions this season, the Cowgirls set the program's single-game record with 15 made 3-pointers. OSU set the standard at Colorado before matching the feat against Missouri State.

Didn't dig into it too deeply but seems OSU has had a number of injuries. All but one minute vs Oregon before Christmas was seven players. Hannah Gusters is just back and has only played three games. They actually added a player to their roster a couple of days ago, Emilee Ebert, who played four years at guard for KSU. Nice add as she knows the Big 12 teams and should be able to slip in as a reserve and may give them at 8 players now.

Stailee Heard is a freshman guard star. She just won her second freshman of the week award. She's averaging 15.3 pts and shooting 61% from the field (for a guard that's a crazy %).

Based on what I’ve read about OSU they can get you inside and out. No focusing on Gusters or the guards will bury a three on you. Essentially the key is going to be playing off screens and apply sticky defense. Shoot 75% from the line. Outside of Heard, the starters are excellent free throw shooters. Asi is their three point dagger.

Let’s go ladies! Have no idea what to expect, but the first true road game against real competition should show us something about this team.

I've really looking forward to this game - I need something to smile about after yesterday's football game! I don't expect to prevail in Stillwater, but this ISU team is so damn likeable they'll raise my spirits regardless of outcome!

I'm disappointed to see OSU's Chandler Prater is out for the year after suffering an injury versus Ohio State. I enjoyed the young lady at KU - she has style and attitude! Get well soon...

OSU is my second favorite Big XII school. They're a land grant institution with a scenic campus and I like Stillwater too - similar to Ames in many respects. I'm a safety consultant by trade and they have an excellent Fire Protection Engineering program. I sent a young member of my team to a fire protection seminar at OSU last June and he got kicked off campus for skateboarding, specifically riding the handrails at the Library. These kids slay me...

Morning is gong so slow waiting for Gophers at 1:00 and ISU at 2:00. Might have to do TV and laptop. Baylor/Texas is odd game out, also at the same time, but would have liked to watch that one to. 10 days without much that interested me and now everything is on in the same time slot!

Guess this is a good time for me to pack the car. Have a gig in Osceola At 4. The rest of you will have to keep posting. Hope the ladies snap out of it quickly!

Just tuned in for last couple min. of the first, and saw one made bucket. At least it was for us.

I’m on the road and realizing again how much I hate the varsity app. Every time I try to create an account it gives me a network error. This is what out sourcing does to you

I’m watching from Oregon via the ESPN app. Pretty sure the anniuncers called Hannah “Joens” once. Gosh.
