I know Drake had to replace two or three starters (Bair, Meyer, etc.) from last year's squad, but I'm remembering the Louisville / Drake NCAA tournament game last March where Katie Dinnebier went head-to-head with Hailey Van Lith - outstanding game. Allison Pohlmann is a fine coach and Drake has an excellent record in the Kohl Center, so our youngsters have quite a task in front of them. Go State!

This may or may not be a win, but I want to see how the youngsters play against an experienced team picked to win their conference.

As @iccyfan noted they lost a lot. They got some votes but were picked as #2 with UNI as the consensus pick to win the Valley. Still, a good team and it's a road game.

Because of that UNI pick I'm going to peek at the Iowa UNI game score later. That's not an automatic win for Iowa (shades of Creighton bumping us both two seasons ago).

UNI as #1
UNI's Boffeli is picked to be POY.
UNI, two players 1st team
Drake as #2
Drake with Dinnebier and Berg picked as 1st team.
Drake with Miller as 2nd team.

We look to have too much height/size for Drake, if we can keep getting the ball to our posts in good spots.
 
A lot to like in that first quarter, I think. Fell behind early with some typical freshman mistakes, but they settled down a lot. Crooks can be unstoppable against teams that don't have sufficient size. Bristow had some very nice plays as well.

I can see where acous may have thought that. In MBB Drake is 1 and UNI 2nd and it's flipped in WBB.

Drake is more aggressive and playing with the home team vibe. Disappointed in our lack of aggression.
 
This is definitely showing the experience versus inexperience. Iowa State is not handling the defense of pressure at all, getting beat to the basket, repeatedly, and out of position on rebounds. The game in the second quarter literally has gotten away from them. Now is when we want to see how they react to being in a big hole.
