Great news WBB fans. In this week's Nike AAU Circuit Peach Jam National Championship in North Augusta, SC, Arianna Jackson's All Iowa Attack 10th Elite Team has won 5 games in a row and made it to the 16U national championship game.

For the first time ever, the game will be broadcast on ESPNU at 11am CT, July 25. If you are interested in youth basketball, this is a great and very rare opportunity to watch our favorite local AAU team on national TV.

I have been following both the AIA 16U and 17U teams since the tournament started on July 21. Here's the summary of their tournament so far.

In each age group, 32 teams are divided into 8 pools. Each team played 3 games on July 21 and 22 in the pool stage. The first-place team of each pool enters into the Platinium bracket (1st to 8th places), the second-place team of each pool enters into the Gold bracket (9th to 16th places), the third-place team of each pool enters into the Silver bracket (17th to 24th places), the fourth-place team of each pool enters into the Bronze bracket (25th to 32nd places).

Both AIA teams were in Pool C with Colorado Premier, Missouri Phenom, Cal Sparks.

The 16U team went 3-0 and entered into the Platinum bracket. They beat Fairfax Starz in the quarter-final game yesterday and AL Southern Starz in today's semi-final. They will be facing Team Essence (Florida) in the national championship game.

The 17U went 2-1 (lost to Missouri Phenom) and entered into the Gold bracket. They beat West Coast Premier in the quarter-final game yesterday and TN Flight Silver in today's semi-final. They will be facing Team Midwest Elite (Illinois) in the Gold bracket championship game. The game can be watched live at 11:30am CT July 25 on Twitch.

Since all of the games have been broadcasted on Twitch for free, I was able to watch a lot of ISU recruits playing full games. I'll be giving my observations in the follow-up post.

Good luck to both teams in tomorrow's championship game of their division.

Here are some tourney photos from Arianna's mom.

High quality live feed-espn U, but the announcers let me down by not giving more play-by-play. Too much out of game extemporaneous chit-chat without giving names, jersey numbers, stats. Is that too much to ask?

Just got done watching. Glad we have Jackson, skilled at 5'10". And maybe its just me, but Johnston's Tanke just looked like an Iowa State player. Hope we land her.

Arianna Jackson was huge down the stretch and helped All Iowa Attack secure the win against FL Essence 60-57. For two years in a row, they are the Nike 16U National Champions!

Box score

This AIA team has no superstar players but they played great fundamental team basketball, made the right plays, and handled the pressure down the stretch throughout the tournament. It also helps that they are a great 3PT and FT shooting team and don't turn the balls over. I have thoroughly enjoyed this tournament and am very impressed by this team. I hope they keep growing and do something big in the Nike 17U championship next year.

One of the most memorable moments of the game was in the last two minutes of the game, Arianna had an awkward moment in which she got her feet tangled and fell down, and the player she guarded hit a 3PT "ankle breaker". She didn't quit and a few plays later when AIA's lead was cut to only one, she hit a huge 3-pointer and it turned out to be the championship-clinching field goal for AIA.

Her final stats are: 9 PT (2-4, 1-2 3PT, 4-4 FT), 4 REB, 3 AST, 1 STL, 0 TO.

Halle Vice was huge in both semi-final and final games, scoring 15 PT and 20 PT respectively. She's going to receive a lot of offers after this. She's from the Pleasant Valley High School in the Quad Cities area. We have some good softball recruits from that school, most recently her basketball teammate Emily Wood was named Iowa High School Sports Awards Female Athlete of the Year.

Another player I really like is Journey Houston, another player from the Quad Cities area. She's always full of energy and hustles all the time, has a high basketball IQ and is a really good athlete. As an 8th grader, her stock is only going up from here, we got to recruit her hard.

Arianna was being guarded tough. It seemed in the second half they had her off to the side so Levin, Vice and company could drive the basket without the girl guarding AJ being able to help. When she did go to help in the last minute, they found AJ for that big three. She was also money on the line.

My observation of Arianna Jackson:

She's not the flashiest player on the court and most of her plays don't wow the spectators. But she just makes the right plays on both ends of the court. She can play PG or off guard. She doesn't force plays and makes the right read/react plays most of the time. Her AST/TO ratio is high and she's a great FT shooter (I think she only missed 2 FTs in the entire tournament so her FT% is in the 90% neighborhood). She has a calming effect on her team, when she's on the floor the team runs more smoothly. Her defense is also very underrated. She may look small in terms of her size on the court but she hustles, moves her feet well when guarding, makes good reads on her opponents, and makes timely steals and rebounds. Although her overall stats are not the best of the team on paper, her intangibles are what make her invaluable to this championship team. That's why she's the "Player to Watch" mentioned on the ESPNU broadcast.

WBB fans, we've got ourselves a really good player. When she gets to ISU and she will be an immediate contributor off the bench behind Lexi and Emily.

Who is Vice considering? She had a pretty good game.
We have a lot of offers out for younger girls/wwb players-but not Vice, yet. I have to believe Iowa will be all over her soon and being from the Quad Cities area it could be reciprocal. Otherwise she has not made any indications.

I think Tanke does have an offer - I think you may be thinking of someone else - Tanke is from Johnston. Were you thinking of Vice?
