Watson

Totally agree. Great game out of Watson and Osun. Jones had a down game for him, but boy did Watson and Osun step up. I think this team is just going to get better and better.

We'll get Jaz back too. Too bad we couldn't have had Williams too this year.

Williams injury was a bummer but if he's healthy I don't think Lipsey grows as much as a player as he has having to be the starting PG.

Our fans are weird about demanding every player gets minutes, but I think you saw something today where TJ can actually get an edge on Self as our team gets more talented. Self doesn't go deep at all, TJ has been making sure Watson gets minutes and today he hit some big shots in addition to the regular hustle. We seem to be getting deeper every week. Barring injury we'll be much deeper than KU at Hilton and that is a great thing. Now imagine it in the next two years with the classes we have coming in that are comparable to a lot of KU's classes.

Because that's kind of who he reminds me of. That's why.

I can see it a little. People forget Ejim had stone hands that first year and developed into one of our smoothest players ever. Everybody always brings up Naz as the most improved of all time but Ejim from freshman forced into action to Big 12 POTY is very likely our most improved player ever over a career.

They're both definitely guys that rebound better than their size should indicate.

I don’t ever remember when we have been this big and athletic
We've consistently had more points in the paint and more offensive rebounds than our Big 12 opponents. That never happens. It feels like post play in the conference is waaay down right now. I don't ever remember a Kansas team this weak in the post. Osun+Kunc+Jones+King is probably the best front court in the conference.

It was telling when our bigs went toe-to-toe with UNC.

I’m excited about Watson. I don’t think it’s talked about enough what it really says about him that TJ gives him these many minutes as a freshman. And in clutch time on the road. Stats don’t jump off the page, but the staff clearly sees something.

I thought D. Watson would be the project player that Eli King has turned out to be. Mainly because of Watson's slight frame. Think of what he can become when he does fill out and muscle up a bit.

By the way, I thought the same thing about Haliburton, but it is easier to be slight framed at point guard than at the 3 position that Watson is playing

For sure, not easy for a Freshman who has been used to being the guy in high school ...
I don't think Watson was "the guy" on his Totino-Grace HS basketball team. He had zero points in the State Championship game vs DeLasalle and only nineteen points in the whole state tournament. I believe he was their defensive stopper, which makes his scoring this year "icing on the cake". Like you guys, I love the kid...

Watson seems like the type who could have a huge jump from his freshman to Soph season with more confidence and reps. If Im remembering correctly prior to the season Chris did a podcast with JR Blount and JR was gushing over Watson. Said he will be an NBA player and his defense at that early stage in his career was incredible. His wingspan is crazy. I wouldn't be shocked if he is the starting "3" next year and Omaha is the "4".

He is improving for sure. While he's not ready to play 20+ minutes in conference play yet, when he does go in he's been doing some good stuff
