Warren Getting Noticed

I know transfers aren't as big in college football, especially with a redshirt burned, but I really hope Ayeni is retained if we get a new staff. We can't lose this kid.

400 yards before contact. That is an impressive stat for the line.

Does that mean our oline is better now?

With a new found rushing game Be Like Mike, Sam should be passing gangbusters. If he does the same at TT, Lanning should start the next game. Hells bells, this is time for Sam to shine. He has seven receivers who can catch balls and he has a great running back and the oline is old.

I'm waiting for Rhoads to make the comparison about only having to plan for blocking 10 guys because Warren (like Davis) will take care of the 11th himself.

Yep. And I know the senior transfer thing hasn't caught CFB like it has with CBB, but I could see a couple of our seniors, if eligible to do so, transfer to another school. These are just things you have to expect with a coaching change though.

So it appears that some coaches are "coaching up" their guys. If CPR is really the issue, I'd be fine letting Blaney, Mangino, or Ayeni take over the reigns for the rest of the year. Ayeni can obviously recruit and teach.

I do feel enthusiasm by the team once the game starts has ebbed the last few years, mainly by the offensive squad. Hope the offense looks fired up like Lazard usually is. Show more emotion even if things go south.

Mangino is a huge(no pun) part of the problem. If Rhoads can scrape through & make it to next year, I Promise you Mangino won't be here. 0%

CPR has given a lot of props to the offensive coaching staff over the last 3 games for what they are doing schematically to get the running game working.

It would be nice if the offense would tilt the run/pass balance a little more towards the former. Sam can't close the deal with a pass right now, even if a cheap hooker is on the receiving end of it.

Are there a lot of other examples of him being a good recruiter besides Mike Warren? I know he had good backs at Toledo, but that doesn't make him a good recruiter. Just wondering who else he has reeled in.

Coaches Ayeni and Blaney both kind of came here in a "package deal" when Mangino came in, correct? Pretty sure at least Blaney is an old friend of MM.

That's my only fear in firing CPR, you lose the good assistants. How do you dispatch the bad coaches and keep the good ones? Probably can't be done. Most new coaches wouldn't want MM around, and you lose him, you probably lose Blaney, too, possibly Ayeni. Or, a new coach may prefer to clean house completely.

Warren looks good for sure, whether it's because he's really talented or because the last two teams he faced are atrocious defensively or a little of both doesn't matter right now. There needs to be something positive going on for this team.

Blaney was heavily wanted by Mangino because they had worked well together previously. Ayeni came here on his own but being able to coach under Mangenius (as he calls him) was a big factor
